ontopic; i didn't know you were going for the domestic abuse angle. i drink like a fish and i feel the wife and i have a pretty good relationship. i think it's because i'm honest with her, never let her log into bf2s, and share my liquor with her.
Never.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
Haha how many times have you said, "I can't believe I did that" the next morning? Beer goggles, etc etc. You don't think straight when you're on the sauce.Red Forman wrote:

It also impairs judgement.
Instant Asshole, just add alcohol.
well, not like i'm bragging or anything, but i can tell you from - a lot of - personal experience: alcohol brings out nothing - it distorts and degrades who a person really is. it makes humans behave like animals they evolved from - whoever considers that their true self... well, they sure need some serious help.
if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.

I find that if I have too much to drink it exacerbates the mood I was in when I started drinking. However, it has never made go postal to the point of actually taking a weapon and threatening to do bodily harm.
Alcohol is haram marine, and you know that. It fucks you up.

I'm pretty much the same person drunk/sober.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
I'd say it brings out the true person. For instance there's this chick on my floor I wouldn't mind boning. Normally I wouldn't tell her that. The other night when I was shitfaced I kept saying how I wanted to 'have fun' with her (or something like that, I don't remember it at all).
@ Shahter
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I don't know about bringing out the "true" person...but it does certainly lower/remove inhibitions.
But then, to philosophize...is it the uninhibited or inhibited state that is the "true" state of the person? Is it the inhibitions that we impose upon ourselves that makes us "people" instead of animals?
From personal experience, I'd say it's situational, wrt inhibitions. What is being drunk, where the drinking is being done, and who you're drinking with. All play into the behavior that results. All of those variables get plugged into a warped calculator whose answers seem to make perfect sense at the time.

From my experience Alcohol only works two ways. With some people, it turns them into dicks. With others it turns them into more open, happier people.
So basically..... like what everyone else said, it basically does inhibit you (I mean the opposite) and then show what you really are like, for the most part, IMO. And that's why you get some people who are dicks and some who are not like I said, because some people are just naturally dicks and there's nothing you can do about it except maybe try and get away with premeditated murder. Everyone knows that.

I'd say being drunk removes the social responsibility attached to normal behaviour as if you were out in public.
But then again I personally havent been shitfaced before. Seen a few friends though.
