I met a girl this summer except she lives 6 hours away which kinda makes things difficult. That and I'm nervous as fuck when I'm around her.

I've currently got my sights set on one of my roommates from last year (female obviously!). I think about a year ago, after we had been living together for a few months, I think she might've had interest in me. But I'm only like 50% sure. Her and one of our mutual friends would always jokingly ask if I would date a girl who looked like her, or similar stuff. I just ignored it because we were roommates and I didn't want to risk complicating things.
Now, after we've all parted ways and are living in different parts of town this year, I've come to realize how much I miss hanging out with her and how much we had in common. At first I was thinking, "Hell, we might as well date because we'd make a good couple", as if it were a necessity and not really a want. But lately I've been thinking about it more and more and I really like the idea.
Haven't seen her in a few weeks though, and I was planning on asking her out, but couldn't get her alone Next time we hang out (which is usually with the rest of our old group) I'm just gonna have to go for it and hope for the best

Personally, considering her previously presumed interests, I'd take the bold approach here, meaning giving her a call and just saying you miss her. May feel a bit awkward, but both of you will know right away where you stand. There is no point in stretching this, given that you've lived together for a year.

Text her - "I miss your chat, we should meet up sometime and catch up!!" Or something along those lines. Texts are really good for stuff like that, and guaranteed if she feels even remotely like that she'll turn a smile to that kind of text. No need to get her alone to talk to her and get her to hang out.
Also, a text like that can do no harm, so even if she blows you off or whatever, it's not big deal.
Or do what Lai did and phone her, but that could be a bit extreme.
