Read, anyway doctors will have to give details of abortions online for everyone to view. Than conservative Christians wonder why everyone hates them. Bull shit right?

That's a gross invasion of privacy. It's practically putting women who have abortions up there with sex offenders.

Perhaps everyones records should be online.

Paedophile priests, the knotted family trees of the fascist christians who marry their cousins, the STD records of politicians.

Thats a gross invasion of privacy.

They aren't the 'right', they're north on the political compass.

I think your examples...well they are public.

1) Pedophiles = court reports & they get to be on a special online database anyone can read
2) Cousins = if it's illegal in your state, then again...court reports
3) Politicians = no protection

But yeah, it's bs - don't most states have a right to privacy law specific to this?

Not that I have any idea how many towns of 200 you have in Oklahoma. But that still doesn't mean it's not an invasion of privacy.

Aye, abortions are medical procedures so in theory shouldn't they fall under medical privacy laws?

It doesn't qualify as a medical procedure because you're sending the baby, the mother and the doctor straight to hell.

huh? i'm not familiar with usa regulations about what's considered a medical procedure, but i seriously doubt "hell" is mentioned anywhere in those.

How is privacy violated if nothing is included which identifies the patient?

Privacy is violated because the information can significantly aid the process of identification.

I'm not defensive, just asking a question that no one has logically answered.  Without "any information specifically identifying the patient", all other details are meaningless.

But if within 200 people it's possible to identify them the its not anonymous.

To put the "first 8 questions" nonsense to bed...

from the pdf of the bill:

1. Date of abortion
2. County in which abortion performed
3. Age of mother
4. Marital status of mother (married, divorced, separated, widowed, or never married)
5. Race of mother
6. Years of education of mother (specify highest year completed)
7. State or foreign country of residence of mother
8. Total number of previous pregnancies of the mother
    Live births
    Miscarriages
    Induced abortions
Being fairly confident that I have spent more time than probably anyone else on this forum in small towns in Oklahoma...I can't see how this could possibly point to the identity of a woman having an abortion performed, regardless of the size of the town involved, since the granularity of geography is county, not city, town, or incorporation.

I'm with Stingray on this one...there's no invasion of privacy here. I think it's extreme, but it doesn't invade anyone's privacy, as it doesn't provide any personal details...which would violate other federal laws (such as HIPPA) which override any state laws.
