get educated. pendulum arent drum'n'bass. they're festival fodder and recycled breakbeat shit for 13 year olds. if I want to hear an album of recycled tracks with formula-strict song structures, corny as fuck guitar and weak-as-shit vocals, i'll listen to nickelback - they've already got that corner of the music spectrum.

Well it isn't really, I was sort of waiting for Uzique to mount me.1927 wrote:

But you've posted now. Well done 27'.
truer examples of the genre. fuck pendulum with their wanky ooh-yawn-it's-building-up guitar crescendos as they then hit 'play' on the breakbeat sample that they recorded in 2002 and have used in every song ever since.
liquidator that's the most stupid FUCKING argument for music EVER.
Miley Cyrus is currently one of the most popular musical acts on the planet. Is she as talented or as creative as Mozart, because of her relatively-similar worldwide fame? Pendulum are popular because they make drum'n'bass for dumbies - introductory fodder - utter pish. They appeal to so many people because your average teeny-bopper or your average apathetic student doesn't care enough for the music genre to do some research, so they blindly swallow and revere whatever fecal shit drips into the mainstream from the actual drum'n'bass scene. this fecal waste is known as pendulum. it's the exact same as all of the annoying-as-fuck dubstep new-kids that love skream and benga, not because they're the best in their genre, but because ditzy radio 1 DJ's give them airtime because it's accessible and a good starting point. pendulum are to drum'n'bass what tesco brand sparkling wine is to french champagne. sure the tastes are comparable and it's technically the same stuff, but the difference is evident to anyone with half a fucking palette.

Reminds me of this old song:
Yeah, London Elektricity and many of their label-mates on Hospital Records belong to a sub-genre of d'n'b called liquid drum n bass. It's influenced by soul, funk, groove, jazz and all sorts of upbeat and melodic stuff, as opposed to the more raw junglist beats or the more techno-based club genres. I like liquid drum'n'bass because it's the closest thing to 'original' drum'n'bass grooves around nowadays, really, and it suits my habit of listening to d'n'b on nice sunny days when you just want a cool soundtrack.liquidat0r wrote:

@Liq: I edited in a response to your Pendulum question in my original video-post.
@Ioan: The first video (Black Sun Empire) is pretty popular, I posted it because I figure you may have heard it before. It's used on the official EVE Online trailer - look it up on YouTube. Makes an epic soundtrack.
