That's the server I play on. They've got a Blizzlike realm that I play on mainly. I don't find any of the medium/fast rate servers any fun..
Oh and the instances are exactly the same as in retail, so yeah, it was quite a challenge. 20-man Ulduar raids are awesome fun.

@Finray: Bullshit, private servers are never alike to retail servers. I've seen them all myself, my little brother got bored of the 'challenge' of actually properly leveling and raiding in retail WoW and did a tour of the entire bloody lot. They're all bullshit, full of hacks, bugs, glitches and easy shortcuts. 20-man Ulduar is easy as hell; I don't have any reason to believe from talking to old players that any WotLK instance is even as hard as the easiest TBC instance... and then pre-TBC WoW was leagues apart again. There's nothing in gearing a character anymore, it's bullshit. Hope the expansion changes that

Nah, until you play a private server yourself you won't know. Only things that are different are that you sometimes get server buffs, where a GM will cast the whole server every level 80 buff in the book, makes for epic leveling, but in saying that, I've only ever seen it twice on my server in the time I've played.Uzique wrote:

Another thing is, the other day Walla (The GM) spawned and controlled a God Character and we all had some lulz killing him.
But apart from that, any bugs get picked up on quite quickly, there was a Soulbound trade exploit that ran for .. maybe a week maximum before the GMs picked up on it and fixed it. This server is really good, don't know what ones your brother was playing on.

And Finray, I've played on nearly all the ones my brother has. Even the 'retail' and 'standard ruleset' ones. They're all corrupt as fuck, my brother spent all his time chumming with the GM on IRC and being allowed to get tons of benefits. Same with instances- encounters were the same but the bosses have less hit-points, or characters had easily-attained Stam gear, or whatever. Besides, the rule shouldn't be that I don't know what I'm talking about. You've never played the actual game, so I put it to you that you don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about when you talk of skill, accomplishment, 'gearing up' characters etc. "Lolol newfag".

I subscribe in 3 or 6 month blocks when I can, then I can dismiss the cost as just being equivalent to buying another, shittier game that I wouldn't play as much, anyway.
