Hi, i currently run BF2 with "everything" on low(including software sound) it takes me about 3+ minutes to load a map and i get a FPS of around 20-40 .

But next wednesday i finally get to go out and buy a new PC

Just to make me feel better and have more fun enjoying my time playing with my current setup what do you think my load times and FPS would be? if i ran it with everything on its highest possible including Xfi on ultra. (and would i get lag at the start?)

Also i was reading somewere that because its a dual core CPU, i need to get patch off AMD so BF2 only uses one core because it does not support 2, is the correct? And will that slow my gaming down by much?

Yeah i want that X-fi badly, so maybe the full song of the loading music i listen to would sound better(thats if the computer has not loaded before the music starts)

If you can get CAS2 2x1GB memory modules, go for it. They cost around $200. Or save $80 and get the Valuram. You might notice an occasional stream of choppiness with higher latency memory though. It won't be very apparent on benchmarks, but if you've been working with computers for a long time, you'll notice.

Thanks guys i'll save the money on the ram and get the P180
Since this shop only sells the forsa 7900GT i'll just get it because its so cheap, and in about a years time i can hand my graphics card down. And get another nice new card.

If I were to put two gigs in a computer right now, I would tend to veer towards the OCZ Mirrored Platinum, and relax the timings to 2-3-2-6 if given any error. The lower the timings you can get (CAS2 is quicker than CAS3), the better. The lower the voltage requirements, the less chance of overheating (though 0.1V variance doesn't offer a very wide margin).

But, bottom line, you want no less than a single 2x1GB pair.

Thanks for that the thing is i am in Australia and the only shop i can use is the one above with the my ram cost picture. Also i am not planning to over clock at all i just want it to perform well.

Which one of these do you think would perform the best since the price difference is very little.

Two of 1G DDR400 (Hyundai)
Two of 1G DDR400 (Samsung)
Two of 1G DDR400 (Kingston)
Two of 1G Corsair DDR400
Two of 1G(2x512) Corsair Value
Or
Two of 1G(2x512)OCZ Value or Premier

Or i could get 1G(2x512) of OCZ Performance its expensive would it outperform 2 gig of cheaper ram?
Sadly this is the only choice I have to choose from

The prices are from my country so I don't know how much it cost in your country... Anyway in my country this is very good PC if we look at it's price & performance, and it has enough of power to play games and it can be easily upgraded.

Ok one thing, is this computer going to be almost all gaming, becuase if it is don't go with the dual core processor, the 4000+ Clawhammer (the current core if I'm correct) is faster for gaming, but if however you intend to do any video editing, or any other quite heavy processing task yea stay with the x2. They are great processors btw I've got the 4200+ and it runs verrry nicely, they run very cool so the core temps are always peachy, but as I said for pure gaming, single core currently wins (in that price bracket)

Other then that I would say stick with the 2x 1GB sticks, mainly so you can upgrade later, without having to change all your RAM.

Yes, this PC is for gaming, but if your a 14yo kid like me who likes to have nearly everything running at once then the X24400 will do me good. And i also think i am better off going dual core because it will last longer and like Vista better.

I changed the Brand to MSI its only $4 extra

I would go with the Antec P180, I have it and I love it. Also, I have an ATI x1900 XTX. I can turn all of my graphic settings to "Ultra High," but the longer load times aren't worth it. I would recommend just sticking with "High" Also, you will love the x2 4400, it is great.

Don't get x2 4400. It maybe better but you can overclock x2 3800+. And when your 3800+ gets old it doesn't help you at all if you have bought 4400 instead of 3800 because the time 3800 gets old so does the 4400. And GeForce is better than ATI in games and in price & performance. And AMD beats Intel any way it wants in games. And p150 is better than p180 because if you buy p180 you have to buy powersupply but p150 comes with powersupply.

Already been answered, but four 512MB sticks will force your timing to run at 2T, while two 1GB sticks will let you run at the tighter (and better) 1T.

The X2 3800+ only has 2x512KB cache, and is $295 US. The X2 4400+ is $150 more, but has 2x1MB cache, and will have a longer performance life than a 3800+. Good investment in my mind. The X2 4800+ is the same thing as the X2 4400+, only with 200 more MHz. Not so good of an investment. If you're a rich kid, the FX-60 can overclock to 3.6GHz.

ATI seems to have more problems in some games than NVIDIA, but its image quality is spectacular. But both ATI and NVIDIA offer excellent cards. It's really a matter of preference, price and availability. If you want two video cards though, SLI is more reliable than Crossfire.
