You're probably not, but if your referring to the University of Washington in Seattle, all I can say is NAAWWW SSOONN. It has an æpic engineering department. One of the top choices for me, I can't be arsed to try hard enough or pay to go to MIT/CalTech and a college degree is only going to slightly help my CV. IT Jobs ftw.

Although, with this surprising info on cost of colleges elsewhere, I'd like to look in to studying abroad.
Foreign colleges are rarely as cheap for US nationals as they are for their country's citizen's - Oxford and Cambridge, for example are comparable in cost to US private universities.

Also, if you are worried about paying, MIT and Caltech have good financial aid programs (especially MIT), so its not as expensive as the initial cost estimate makes it appear to be (assuming you can't afford it normally, as your worry baout cost indicates.)

Pretty much, uni's differ for the subjects you do at them, you cant say one uni is best in the world for every subject cos its top of a list.
It also has a lot to do with how they work it out and score it

My 4 year course cost around $15,000. But that is an interest free loan from the government, which I didn't have to start paying back until I was earning 35K p.a.

So for my entire uni course my only costs were transport (50% subsidised by government while studying full time), text books (which I didn't bother buying half the time, and course notes which I didn't have to buy but for the $10-$20 per subject it was a huge convince to do so. Total cost over all 4 years:
Transport ~ $1000 (variable depending on distance to campus)
Text books ~ $1000
Notes ~ $500

Then again, international students don't get government loans, the costs would be more like $15,000 per semester (not for the whole course), and transport is not subsidised.

Mines in the 402-503 bracket. I'm not sure how exactly they're ranked though.

I'm gussing either how difficult it is to get IN to the uni

Or how "highly regarded" the degree is...

#14...

Last I saw any rankings for US universities (USNews), Princeton was #1 and Hahvad was #2. Maybe its the reverse again, but who knows.

And yeh, these rankings tend to be full of shit. I also like how Harvard has a 100 Total score. Who made this list?

Yep, completely.

Harvard and most of those top Universities rank top because they try to only accept those who are seriously motivated already*. You don't go to Harvard and become a successful, driven person, you go to Harvard because you're a successful, driven person. How you come out is still based on your own dedication to your studies but statistically speaking someone would go in the same person they come out as.

Well I wouldn't know how to compare my university to any others (how is the scoring done anyway), so this list tells me pretty much nothing.

Groningen, Netherlands: 101-151
Seems to fall behind uni's of utrecht and amsterdam....just isn't right

lolz, mine isn't on there. I've never once see a list of these that's even vaguely agreed so I don't really pay too much attention to them.

Both of those things are stupid, anyway.

These lists are based on reputations that do not exist any more.

University of Toronto holding at 24th in the world. First page, can't complain. It's not like it ever has a chance against the real heavy-weights of the academic world. 1st in the country though...wooo!

You don't necessarily need cash to get into Harvard or Yale.
