I finally got CS4
Once you use it for a week you'll find it tough to go back to cs3.. course cs2 to cs3 was the same thing.
My favorite addition is opengl. Nice and smooth zooms, no matter the percent. It's something you'll appreciate nearly every time you use it.
I had cs3 on my other machine for awhile after I installed cs4 on this one. Every time I zoomed in and out on the old install I was like..

How much ram do you have? That seems to be the biggest factor in adobe product performance. 2 gigs or more and you should be fine.
