Maybe you should go back to school and learn how to spell...fortunately I somewhat understand you...however, could you tell me some more details with regards to the issues? I.e. when does the game freeze, how long have you been playing, what are your computer specs, etc?

Also, this shouldn't go in this section of BF2s, as it's designed for bf2s.com help, not computer stuff. If you need help with your computer, try another hardware forum too.

Have you considered that English might not be his native language? Think about that next time you flame someone for their spelling.

True...sorry for acting like an ass...but he speaks somewhat relevant English in his other posts. Also, he has posted his problems in the Help (for bf2s.com) several times. Every time he's been told that it was the wrong section...

It's probably your video card. 128MB and a lower end card just won't cut it.

well, this is the first time i have this problem and it was until today in the afternoon didn't have the problem in the mornig

Make sure you are running the latest drivers for your video card. If you have the latest, roll back to whichever was before that and see if that helps.

Okay, I searched and found this topic, so I'll just post in this one considering his problem is mostly resolved and my problem consists of mainly the same thing.

So.
I built this computer almost a year ago. Had a few PSU probs. Well a month or so after I got and was palying BF2, the game started freezing about 10 secs after hitting "Join Game." After many Google searches, I found a post on Total BF2 that solved the problem. This problem was my Nforce4 chipset drivers. I updated them and it worked fine... that is until just recently... my Hdd died on me.

So I bought a new hdd, loaded everything up and BF2 was doing that same freezing thing... I had completely forgot about the Nforce4 drivers. Well only about 3 days after installing this new HDD, it also failed. Turns out my newer PSU is doing something to my HDDs. So I once again, bought a new hdd. this time it was installed with my old, known-good PSU. Get everything loaded up(this was two nights ago) and it's still doing the freezing.

After much thinking and remembering, I went to the Total BF2 forums and searched for my post in that thread and found the link to the certain drivers. Installed them, but to no avail.

This is everyhting that I've done sofar to try and fix this problem.
Updated Video Drivers
Updated Mobo chipset
Updated Onboard NIC drivers
Updated Punk Buster
Tried Re-installing BF2
I've also tried running BF2 in a window to see if there was an error. but I couldn't see an error.

Here are a few odd things:
Only the game freezes. But it prevents me from doing anything else. It will not minimize, CTRL + ALT+ DEL doesn't work, ALT + F4 doesn't work, NOTHING works. But I know the computer is not frozen because If I push "num lock" the light will turn on and off. and also, if I'm in teamspeak, I can still talk and hear my buddies.
Also, I can play Single Player for hours with no problems(so don't say it's a overheating issue... I play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and that's more demanding on Medium than BF2 is completely cranked up on high)


Keep in mind this is a FRESH install of windows, and a BRAND NEW HDD. I don't need to reformat or anything.
Also keep in mind, I am not computer illiterate. I am a computer technician for a college. I know computers inside and out. But this just baffles me. So please, don't talk to me like I'm stupid.

Computer specs:
2gigs of G. Skill memory(with heatspreaders)
6600GT 128mb (Before having to reload my computer, I played everything on high with AA at x4)
80GB Serial ATA WD HDD
Athlon 64 3200+
Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 mobo

How did you update your PB?

Went there, and right clicked that first "for players" file and saved it into the "battlefield2/pb" folder. That should of allowed it to update. but it's still freezing.. I've done everyhting I could think of.


Another bit of news. I can play single player, AND LAN games. but no online games...
I'm gonna see if my buddy can turn off PB in our unranked server and see if I can play in that one.
