I remember when you was like, JDilla, and I'm like wat. Then you showed me Donuts, and I'm like right... Then the other day I started listening to it again, and like wow, it's mindblowing. I can leave it on repeat and not even notice it's on, that's how awsm it is.
he says grime's not dead...
Yeah but, see, that just makes me feel embarrassed to be English.
That chorus/refrain has the tackiest lyrics in the world, as well, the writing on these records is so terrible.

Listening to Ratatat at the moment, it's nice background music.
The thing is with grime is that unless you have British background/have lived there, you're not going to understand what anyone is saying, due to the accent. It won't ever make it over in the US.
Rain just started POURING down here + thunderstorms and lightning, shit is fucked up. My internet will probably die soon.

& For non-English people, it has the opposite effect: it becomes a novelty, people 'dig' the British, urban accents and dialect.Gooners wrote:

But for the native English listeners, it just sounds like embarrassingly uncouth council-estate rap.

I've showed a few of my mates some UK hip hop tracks and they can't even understand the lyrics. I don't see how a non english person would be able to.

Thanks Uzique/Zimmer for letting me accidentally stumble upon your twitter accounts.

My brother just licked my face.
I've got a friend in Noo Yawk that loves grime and prefers it over the amazing local hip-hop scene that he has, just because of the accents- more "raw" apparently. 'Raw' to me = disjointed and poorly written/produced, but I guess to him, with a world of East-Coast hip-hop on his doorstep, he prefers the sounds of South London over the flow of Staten Island, haha.Gooners wrote:
