Where I used to live out in the country me and cammy would go out to find empty shotgun shells. Could get about 50-100 in a few hours.

Columnar basalt. We have the same formations near Donner Summit and in Joshua Tree. Caused by high temp lava cooling quickly. Also found under the surface of the moon.
