Does AA have any effect on an lcd montior at it's native resolution? If a diagonal line is being displayed, how could you smooth it out further? I mean, you'll only get as smooth as the physical pixels on your monitor right?

No, AA still helps to smooth things out.  Maybe not as much though.

AA doesn't work that way Aimless

What AA does is "fade" the pixels to make a line that is not alligned with the pixels appear far smoother, personally I cannot stand anything less than 2x AA ever since I got my 4870...

0xAA is just far too choppy, even on my 20" 1680x1050...
