They really need a dog. Maybe loan them yours for a bit. Our dog is next to useless as  a guard dog, but no lowlife knows that, or wants to find out.

I am not aware of people resorting to stealing rims around here and I am four hours away from Detroit.
Did your neighbor had custom or standard rims on his/her Audi?
Not a big fan of custom rims; they attract too much attention.

I guess it's a good thing my former officer girl is now homeless and lives at my shop.

Nope, if anything it's gone down. In my new area, all the chav kids don't seem to be making so much trouble anymore. Either they're dead or they've moved somewhere else because I couldn't see them changing their ways. In the old area, things were good, then they went downhill, but now things seem to be starting to pick up again.

Oddly enough crime in the area i live in in England seems to have been going steadily down. It's somewhat like the area mentioned in the OP, but more people with stupid house prices.

Belfast, well...
It looks like it resembles the trend around here. Violent crime "has plunged" while burglary is up.

Actually I don't even know if burglary is up around here.. The OP was just a personal observation.

Yeah. for around here at least there was a spate of 'home invasions' a year or two back. Now it's crimes like someones Aston being nicked while everyones asleep. And that's reeeeaaaly rare, the police around here are surprisingly competant, and the homeowners are employing more and more home security systems.

a friend of mine had his car stolen.

out of a gated parking garage under video surveillance.

he had the oldest, least expensive car in the whole place.

i also went to look at a house for sale recently, and as i was pulling up the house next door was getting robbed in broad daylight.

i didn't move there.

Older cars are away and above the most stolen. Simple to get into, simple to get away with without attracting attention.

Most Likely Places That Your Car will Be Stolen (2006)

This applies to Phoenix, AZ only.

   1. Metrocenter
   2. Desert Sky Mall (very close to my house)
   3. Arrowhead Towne Center
   4. Arizona Mills
   5. Durango and 35th Avenue
   6. 70th Avenue and Indian School Road (very close to my house)
   7. 75th Avenue and Encanto Blvd. (very close to my house)
   8. Paradise Valley Mall
   9. 44th Street and Baseline Road
  10. 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road (very close to my house)
For awhile it was bad. It seems like its better now. I used to see stolen cars on the side of the street from time to time. They would be trashed or burned. Trucks seem to be common now. They are used to run illegals through the desert, then ditched.

An AUDI doesn't come with Locking lugs standard???  That's kinda weak..

Criminal activity fluctuates.  Individuals operate in areas and become emboldened by success.  Chances are is this is a teen that needed a set of rims and tires.  Alarm on the Car?

This was the latest local news.  My bro's boss has coffee with this man every morning..  80+ year old vet....

Locking lugs just protect from casual thiefs. someone who is prepared can bypass them easy enough.   still pretty bold doing that in someones driveway though!
