Heroin-addict hobos from around the country are overrunning hipster haven Williamsburg - living in stalled luxury condo projects in the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood.

"It's like St. Marks in the '70s," said Williamsburg activist Philip DePaolo, referring to the notorious East Village hangout. "It's the bad old days all over again. There's crack and heroin all over the neighborhood."

The squatters, from middle-class families, hop freight trains to the city, where they can earn up to $150 a day panhandling in Manhattan. At night, like plenty of other borough commuters, they return to their homes: grubby hideaways inside boarded-up lots that pock the once-booming neighborhood.

"I've got to sleep somewhere, and I might as well do it in Williamsburg," said Stuart, 22, a Florida college dropout.

The admitted alcoholic and heroin user makes $15 an hour panhandling in Union Square, holding a sign that reads "Traveling Broke and Sexy."

"The girls here like it that I'm dirty and I ride trains," he added.

Well these people failed at life, since as they are now; a total economic and social drag on society, what could we do with them? Think about it they are well bottom feeding leeches, could we maybe use them for something like, I don't know military or lab testing? Completely serious here. I see nothing good ever coming from these groups.

Well...  it's worth a shot.

Pay the homeless $1,000 each to get sterilized, and with enough time, the problem is solved (or at least minimized).

"This is not Haight-Ashbury," said Community Board 1 member Evan Thies. "This is a family neighborhood."
Obviously it's not if you have fucking heroin addicts everywhere

Seriously though, heroinheads wouldn't thrive in a true family neighborhood either because there wouldn't be much business (no 20 year old hipsters) or because the citizens of the neighborhood would raise hell about it with the cops.

A mexican guy I know works at a foundry I patronize.

His girl friend has been on unemployement for three years. She gets a job when her deal expires, works for three months and becomes a nuisance, gets fired and draws it again.

During this time the state of California has sent her to three vocational programs, paid for with tax dollars. She has never worked in a field she has been trained in. She currently draws benefits, makes about one hundred and sixty per day, cash under the table doing window cleaning and being a personal shopper for a old rich lady, and draws benefits.

Myself, as a small business owner cannot qualify for unemployement if my company goes out of business; after eleven years consistant withholding on myself as VP of our corporation I reverted to a sole prop and haven't done normal payroll in eight months making me ineligible for any benefits whatsoever.

Not that I would. When I have work, I do very well. It's not having work that makes me poverty stricken practically. When I work, if I only make $250.00 per day, for myself after expenses I consider that a terrible day. It's working sporadically that has me fubar. I could afford my house, my truck and full healthcare for me and co-pay on my seven employees and have disposable income.

That was then.

I shudder to think what things will be like in another year of an economy like this.
