Just because you don't remember something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Like the time Mitch was dating a dude, he may forget but it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I believe in a higher and lower realm of reincarnation, sort of like a DMV line where you take a number. The "enlightened" will get a shorter line in the queue as the lower realm sits and waits

I don't remember anything before 3 years old but i was still existing

I believe the body is a tool, or a place where your 'soul' rests (ie, your brain). you can get a new heart, and still be the same person and love the same people. but if you had a new brain- then... I believe there are certain energies that ive experienced in your brain that people haven't tapped into. (I once dreamed the whole night the night before and wrote it down in the morning and everything happened the way i dreamt it down to the exact feelings and smells)

Yes but there is actually proof that you did exist.

Not my point- my point is we have no idea of remembering if we were chilling as a sperm or whatever before we were a human. I don't believe so because sperm doesn't have a brain but none the less I can't prove either. Being a sperm could sort of be a drunken night, you remember it as it happened, but after that you forget

What is enlightened? Living a "good and pure" life or doing what truly makes you happy?

I haven't really figured that out yet. Neither really, I think its more of a mindset outside the box. I believe that you should be good to life

I wonder about shit like this all the time. How did the Sumerians discover DNA 6000 years ago? And have every planet in the solar system diagrammed? Things we'll never know. I believe that being enlightened is someone with an open mind

Fuck thinking and trying to figure out the world. I rather enjoy it then sitting around thinking about what happens after I die. I hate life after death and religion debates.

Source?

Wait what snake and double helix and Rx and wat? The Rx symbol is just an R fused with an x and it stands for prescription. If you're talking about the Cadeuceus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadeuceus

Then I'm pretty sure the snakes are just wrapped around the staff for the hell of it.

I see where you're going with this but is there anything to suggest those drawings have to do with DNA? Cos the DNA structure diagram is how DNA is actually structured. The others could just happen to be spiraled like that.

its a loose assumption but the bottom left one looks pretty spot on to me.
edit the bottom left is a deity holding what is supposed to be "life" (DNA)
there are plenty of ancient diagrams and shit that dont make sense...

The Rod of Asclepius was the ancient symbol of life and medicine.  It's often confused with the Caduceus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_of_Asclepius

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadeuceus

The Caduceus was a symbol of Iris (a messenger of Hera), and it was later used for Hermes/Mercury (another messenger god).

Only in recent history has the Caduceus been used to refer to life and medicine.

By that logic, if I drink enough alcohol, then that night did not happen?  If I am comatose, I cease to exist?  That brain injuries leading to memory loss erases what happened?

Are you going for the whole "If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make any noise?"

Faulty logic, but keep trying.

The reason you don't remember things when you are very young is because the mind can no store EVERY information you get. Most of it are going to go away to be replaced by others. Some memories last longer for some reason.

There is also this where the mind is still not fully developed at child age.

As for afterlife.

Well seeing that our brain works with small amount of electricity to communicate and such but when you die that electricity doesn't leave the body. It just disappears or fade away.
You also need a body or at least some material where the mind can be along with the electricity, to begin to exist. You can't just have that electricity in the air and hope we will live on like that. Science doesn't work that way. :p

When we die, that's it's. We are just at the top of evolution on our planet and we are just SMART animals.

Even if I like the idea of a spiritual world where I'm immortal and such I just gotta accept that we are just animals and it's silly to think anything will come after death.

Crying for babies is not emotional. Its their way to get attention because they cannot speak. This is why they cry for every little thing until they are old enough to talk. Then doing this is to do with nature, all new borns in the animal kingdom do it, it is a way of signalling that they need something.

They do not do this from memory, it is from instinct. Memory is things you have experienced and remembered, instinct is a genetically programmed reaction to an occurence, like a baby crying.
Genetically programmed where, in the brain? How does a baby know that crying isn't just going to attract the wrong kind of attention and more pain?

Instinct can be considered instinct only when it is repeated again and again in the same species without external influence changing that behaviour. Much like having the memory that fire is hot. If you knew that to begin with you would never have burned yourself when you were younger.

bennisboy wrote:

How can it be the same reaction if you haven't experienced it before?
Yup, it is all instinct. Essentially, hardcoded instructions that everyone is born with based on their genetic makeup. Not memory, not emotion.

There's a great book on it by Prof. Robert Winston.

It kind of does....

There is an ancient symbol that kind of looks a bit like a double helix and represents life and medicine. That's a pretty good explanation right there. It's certainly not credible evidence that the Sumerians discovered DNA, which is a preposterous idea.

Since our brains are essentially electrochemical energy, and energy cannot be destroyed (only change forms), maybe we simply join the universe as energy.  Whether we are conscious of this or not, I don't know.  Just a theory.
