Right now I have a Honda shadow 750cc and am looking at sport bikes
I've driven the Suzuki GSXR 1000 and found it was way too responsive and fast for the weight of the bike
I also drove a 2008 Hayabusa and a 2005 Hayabusa. The 2008 was too expencive and the 2005 was in the care of somebody i didn't think treated it well
for the busa being a 1300+ cc bike it was extremely comfortable and a very easy ride and I felt like I was in contro
But I just have the feeling that the Hayabusa shouldn't be my first sport bike, I feel like I should start with something like a GSXR 600 but the Hayabusa is only $500 more and you get a lot more from it and I would want to eventually own one anyway because it's a bike I feel I could take on long road trips wheras the 600 seems like a short range bike
I also find people that own hayabusa's know their shit and respect the power and don't do dumb shit on them unlike the GSXR 600/1000 I never have seen any damage from a drop or collision on a Hayabusa but it's HARD to find a GSXR in immaculate condition
Anyone have thoughts on this situation? Personal experience?
I would love to test ride a lot of bikes but I'm dealing with used and don't want to waste peoples time.
My background: I have been riding on motorcycles and atvs on and off since I was little and consider myself a responsible, capable strong rider who never rides outside of his skill level and I'm not going to be that dumbass doing wheelies in between cars.
