Authorities say the assault happened around 10:30 p.m. on June 27 on Girard Street. At this point, no arrests have been made, but police are looking for 30-40 black teens said to have been involved. Police explain three of the teens have been identified by witnesses. All involved are facing felony charges.
Witnesses also say they heard the group of teens yelling "we rule now" as they beat the victims by kicking and stomping on them.

Akron police are not calling the incident a hate crime. They're investigating whether or not the incident is gang related.

It seems that whenever the suspect(s) is black, there is usually no mention of race or photos of the suspects or victims. When the tables are turned, races are always pointed out including pictures of the suspect.

Seriously. Some people get kicked out of a pool and it's OMG RACISM. An innocent family gets attacked by a bunch of thugs and it's "just crime." Both parties said something that can be interpreted as racist (although frankly I find "We rule now" to be more racially charged than "change the complexion") but only one party is considered racist by the media.

The problem with a lot of people is that they don't really want equality. They want revenge. They want entitlements.

They also don't seem interested in giving equality to other minorities (as seen by Proposition 8 and how racial minorities were the least likely to support gay marriage).

I don't get why. They weren't victims of slavery or segregated schools. I mean shit I'm pretty sure that some distant relative(s) of mine were discriminated against by the Nazis but I'm not raising hell about it and demanding 'reparations' and shit. Frankly, with folks like Charles Rangel, Thurgood Marshall, Clarence Thomas, Sonia Sotomayor, Bill Richardson and even Obama (though he's mixed race) I find it hard to believe that minorities really are still 'kept down.' Oh, I always call it reverse racism because its racism directed at groups not historically oppressed. I guess its really semantics, although wikipedia seems to support my definition more than that provided by Hurricane.

For the most part, I agree. What keeps people down nowadays is class. We should help the poor regardless of race.

Why so many minorities want entitlements is because militance has been spoonfed to them from people like Jesse Jackson and some rappers. You can also find it among certain activists in the Latino community.

Basically, if everyone took a step back and logically thought things through, they'd see that a system entirely devoid of racial favoritism one way or the other is truly equality.
