As a bonus we get a bunch of stupid arab countries thinking we saved them.

I'm referring to the people in other countries who seem to blame us for everything that goes wrong in the region.  But yeah, Kuwait generally likes us.

Iran...  not so much.  Then again, I can't blame them.

Iraq's government likes us, but their people seem mixed in their sentiments (understandably).

Saudi Arabia's government likes us, but certain sects there hate us (like the Wahhabists).

Let me clarify.  I supported the first Gulf War.  I was glad Saudi Arabia bankrolled it.  Kuwait is an important ally, as you said.  It's just that, unfortunately, our intervention also seems to create enemies as well.

How much did  she think they WOULD take?
Shows she suspected invasion was possible, hence "we have no opinion.." was a staggeringly dumb thing to say.

the U.S. did not intend "to start an economic war against Iraq"
= Go ahead, do what you want, we won't do anything, the Kuwaitis HAVE started an economic war so you can do what you want with them

I think the problem was sending a naive dimwit to deal with Saddam.
Right.. when you exclude other comments, common sense, and selectively pick the quotes that best make your case.

Those "stupid arab countries" need us there as well. Don't kid yourself. Selling out is what they do best.
