Palin wouldn't have stood a chance against Obama in 2012 anyway, she only appeals to an increasingly small fringe group, the Republics don't seem to have anyone strong enough to challenge Obama right now. However I will admit that the 2012 race is going to be lost or won based on whether or not the economy will pick up, though its unlikely that it will stay this bad for 3 years.

There is no good news whatsoever about the economy and we are in fact headed for either hyperinflation or an epic currency crash, or both.

And re: the unemployment question...economically speaking, employment is a lagging indicator of performance. It always takes several months before employment catches up to the economy. The massive job loss in 2008 was largely due to the slowing of the housing market and several bank failures in 2006-07.

See, politicians love a dependent people that offers them ever up more power and control. These people are socialist who know a healthy fat America will never accept socialism.
A broken, dependent people, desperate for protection and food and shelter?
They will let the politicians do whatever they say will make them better, including a international currency, a dissolution of our borders and an international police force.
