Took my first flight through a class B airspace the other day.  Took my girlfriend over Boston and it looks sweeeeeeet from the air.  She just gave me the pictures so here they are,

that's really cool... did you land at that airport?   And did you have to dodge any planes taking off...lol?

And nah I didn't land in Boston for a couple reasons:

a. I had to be back before sunset because I wasn't night current (I couldn't carry passengers at night)
b. It was hard enough getting into the airspace, landing at an international airport like that would be hard as hell nevermind scary as shit.
c. I'm pretty sure there's a landing fee of like 200 dollars for general aviation aircraft at logan, but im not sure.

Other than that it'd be sweet to land there

Only goes all over the place if it is very windy and you're low over rough terrain.  Most of the time, if I can get the power settings right, I'll take my hands off the controls and the plane will fly itself smooth as day without a bump.  The only time I've really had trouble with consistent turbulence was in the late Fall, around october-november.  Other than that, you'd be suprised.  I highly recomend going sometime, just let the pilot know you don't want any of the fancy (fun) maneuvers.

How many hours do you have?

I'm actually starting flying lessons on Saturday and that's one thing I'm hoping to do eventually, fly with girlfriend over scenic things. Manhattan will probably be near the top of the list.

Is that plane rented? Have you ever taken an overnight trip in a rented plane, or is that insanely expensive?

Im ok with flying no probs at all, did have bad turb's (sp) last time we flew and its made me slighty nervy but I'd rather have a go in a choppa than a light aircraft.  Id have no probs if you were flying as you'd take it easy on me I reckon, no loop -da- loops n whatnot.

NYC's not bad man...there's a scenic route you can take which a lot of private pilots do

my friends and flight school did it and said it's great

I don't have a lot of hours, I'm currently at 62.5.  Working on my instrument license right now and you need 50 hours of cross country time alone .  The plane is rented, as I have nowhere near enough money to buy one.  It goes for $124/hr, but that's only when the engine is running.  If I  have the plane for more than 8 hours, i must log at least 3 hours of flight during the rental period.  So it does cost a wee bit to rent overnight, but not if im splitting four ways with my passengers .

Found some purdy pictures of the flight back

62.5 hours isn't too shabby. Do you think your instructor is good, knowledgeable, helpful, etc? I'm concerned about ending up with a crappy instructor and not realizing it until I start to know what I'm doing.

I liked my instructor.  If you have the option, choose an instructor you're comfortable with.  The sooner you feel at home up there, the easier it is.  If you get stuck with someone you dislike, make the best of it.  Ask a lot of questions and work though it.  Worst case, try changing instructors.  What school you taking, part 61 or part 141?

On another note, I just went up for my first IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flight today, meaning we could legally fly through the clouds.  Needless to say, secksy pictures ensued.  Can't wait to get my IFR rating after tonight.

Damn, you are flying practically every day!

I plan to ask a lot of questions, and see if the instructor is willing/able to answer them. I'm starting at a part 61 school this weekend. They convinced me that it's not necessary to go to a part 141. Which kind was yours?

Did you have any problems with motion sickness when you started?

I was originally enrolled in a part 141 college with a major in flight ops (professional pilot program).  The 40 hours for the private cost $10500 but apparently there were a bunch of hidden costs that would eventually jack it to about $13000.  2 weeks before the first semester started, I got a few jobs at the airport and met  some people at the part 61 school.  They convinced me that it would be easier and cheaper to go through the part 61 program and they were right.  I switched majors to aviation management (airlines don't care what major you have, just if you have the licenses and ratings, plus if for some reason I can't fly in the future, I'll have a backup plan) and got my license in less time than at the college for about $7000.  So I had no problems with part 61.  As far as motion sickness I personally haven't had any flying, but I can't read while in a car .

Cool story. That's gotta be the best way to pick a flight school/instructor, talking to people who know what's what.

Nuts. I was supposed to visit a flight school and fly today but there were thunderstorms. Third week in a row with flying canceled because of weather. Maybe I should take up an indoor hobby.

I hear that.  I canceled 5 flights in the last two weeks cause of the weather.  Work has been boring as hell too.  Crappy weather means no one flies, which means no one needs fuel, which means i sit around all say and do nothing. >_<

Maybe we could do indoor skydiving?  That would be
