You can't be both relative and absolute. They are mutually exclusive.
Not really. I think most morals are relative and culturally-based, while there are a few absolutes (don't kill anyone, don't steal their shit).
By kill I assume you mean murder. And even then there are (were) cultures which involved ritual killings and sacrifices. And others where there is no concept of 'ownership', so acts to you or I that would seam like theft would be totally normal to them.

How can you justify absolute morals when you concede that morality is relative to cultures or situations?

Yeah I did. How can he claim there are moral absolutes (don't kill, don't steal) when everything else is relative to culture or situation? What makes those absolute and nothing else?
Belief.

That's why they're beliefs. They're just opinions, if that's what he thinks, then fine. If he believes that not killing or stealing are moral absolutes and everything else is relative, then he is entitled to believe that, 'cos it's just his opinion - a stupid opinion, but one he is entitled to.

I know, but there is nothing wrong with me challenging his beliefs either.

As a 21st century archaeology student I'm trained in everyway as a nihilist or relativist. Being handed all the arguments in favour of nihilism and relativism made me see more clearly than ever before I'm a convinced absolutist. I'm supposed to always see things in context, and I do. However that doesn't stop me from identifying things that are essentially right or wrong. Papua boys aged around 13 are expected to have regular sex with their uncle. Some people call it culture, I call it wrong. Being morally flexible does not stop me from passing judgement or reject certain cultural elements; I will condemn the context if I have too.
