Long story short I was in a McDonalds in Jersey City this weekend by myself eating. A homeless Hispanic man then came to where I was eating and sat down. He then started begging me for a quarter. I gave it to him since it was just 25 cents. He then asked me my race and I told him. He then said "Me too. Us Puerto Ricans have to stick together." I then replied with "No we don't" He then went on to accuse of being gay, racist, racist against my own kind, bisexual, and an atheist. He got the last one right. I had to explain to him in great detail how really between this man and me there is nothing linking us beside our shared heritage on some island that the Spanish had a good run on.
So the point of this thread; Does it anger anyone else when somebody of your race tries to get you to do something for them or someone else because you are the same race? Personally I find it rather insulting whenever somebody of my race tries to get me to help them based on our mutual heritage. Also does it anger you when somebody tries to speak for you as "spokesperson" for X race? Finally does it make me racist if I hold no regard for other Hispanics that I am not related to? Are we supposed to care about the future of our relative race group?
