I've been wondering, if the gore/dismembermant from WaW is put into MW2, though from the gameplay vids it doesnt look likely.

Lets hope COD6 is good, no way to know as of yet as theirs really squat out on the MP.

Competitively? The CoD games have been pretty much dead since no. 2 haven't they?

Call of Duty's four MP is miles above in my opinion, particularly in terms of competitive play (which is where Call of Duty really shines)
As far as features in COD2, there were many added and those removed were a bit of (in my opinion) trimming the fat to keep the game streamlined and bring it back to the core call of duty game play.
And nah, there still plenty competitive. Nothing on CS, but easily as much as TF2 (I'm pulling that out of my a##, but there's really quite a few teams).

Ehh, sorta. Seasons 1 and 2 were pretty popular for COD4.Flecco wrote:

And yes I mean competitively, still going strong as a pub game.

They removed firing modes, which was kind of a big deal.h4hagen wrote:

They really didn't add much to CoD2 at all, smoke grenades is about it.
regen health, holding breath to scope, and smoke completely changed competition though. I am still pissed that I cant switch my AK to semi and that I cant select the grenade (grenade bashes were always fun).Miggle wrote:

forgot about those, but they really show what I mean by consolization.h4hagen wrote:

Regenerating health is obnoxious, just go sit down for a sec and you're as good as new. And holding shift to steady the scope made snipers way too easy to use, which in turn made them more common than they should have been.
About the only good thing they did with CoD2 was make the scopes bigger.
regen health is essential for a casual game. having to run around looking for medpacks is fucking shit. it lets the game flow an awful lot faster, as opposed to having every scared to do some mad attack.
get of the console hating casual player hating train miggle, it's fucking boring.

Prefer the health pack system like TF's but I don't think it would fit with the way CoD mp works anymore.
I just prefer TeamFortress though.

Consolization = Simplifying game mechanics so that they will work for console users.FatherTed wrote:

Regenerating health is obnoxious, it most definitely is not essential. Team Fortress gets away with medkits fine, as did call of duty 1, quake, and plenty of other good games.
"Looking for medpacks" doesn't even really make sense, unless it's your first time playing, you're probably going to know where they are.
"Console hating casual player hating train" that's me... According to xfire CoD2 is my second most played game. Regardless of the consolization, it was still a very good game.
The gore and dismemberment was ridiculous. I started the game, walked outside and just watched limbs fall off people without even trying. At the end of the level I was wondering why all my teammates weren't drenched in blood.M.O.A.B wrote:

IW makes death poignant. Treyarch makes it seem like Monty Python's Black Knight.

I kinda like the regen health, keeps the play fast. Only thing that I dislike about it is that it neutralizes the benefit of early game tags.
I dunno, the damage that can occur from getting shot was pretty well represented, gave good gritty atmosphere as well. I mean, if you took a rifle bullet to the right place, it could rip off part of a limb and explosions would certainly tear you up.some_random_panda wrote:

I never troll, I've played them all. I think each game is better then it's predecessor. I'm not saying COD1 wasn't good, it's still amazing. I just think COD5 is better. It's basically the same thing but with more guns, and more variations.Miggle wrote:
