Taking a cue from Iowing, I'll be heading to Europe with family in tow first week of August to visit relatives in Belfast. Coming from Los Angeles, landing in Paris, and land/sea/land travel to Belfast. This is my first time in Europe, so any advise would be appreciated on the best way to go from Paris to Belfast. Any recommended forms of transportation, points of interest and rest stops? How long do you think it'll take from Paris to Belfast? Total travel days, 7'ish days. Thanks.

it's a couple of hours flight.
Yup, but I wanted to take the scenic land/sea route. It's not like there's much to do in Belfast.IG-Calibre wrote:

When you say total travel days 7, you mean you've got 7 days to kill to get there?
If you take a ferry from France to England? well your options are to either drive up through England and take a ferry from Scotland (Stranraer to Larne just north of Belfast) or head from England to Wales and take the ferry from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire (just south of Dublin) and drive up to Belfast..
scenic route = channel tunnel to london, day or so in london. flights to manchester, train/bus to stranraer/holyhead then the ferry across.

Thanks for the info guys. Total days visit to Europe is about 2 weeks.
Plans have changed anyways. Flying straight to Belfast first. Then Flying to London and/or Paris for a few days. No scenic routes except to places like Dublin and the tourist traps.

Hire car to Normandy beaches, tour old battlefields and graveyards, ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare in SW Ireland, hire car through 'Bravheart' country in the mountains and glens of Co. Wicklow, hit Dublin en route for a bit of drinking and sightseeing then M1 it up to Belfast via the Mourne Mountains.
