On my brothers laptop here. My problem looks similar to this, only worse:
So if I get a new card, and simply plug it in and install will that fix the problem? If so I'm looking at this card (obviously not from PC world though).

get a new vid card. or RMA the exisiting one.
you need to remove the existing drivers first, install card. install new drivers.
