My girlfriend is lay in bed next to me right now and I've just got the Internet working on my Macbook via the (intermittent and unreliable) University wireless hub . No more 5m Ethernet cable - freeeedom! But on a serious note, I'm happy because today I got to start reading a book that isn't course-based, and I'm loving the start of my summer break. Nice one to the above that picked up guitar... just don't make cheesy rock like Schloppy!

Earlier on I was re-reading On The Road for Gooners but now I'm reading In Search of Lost Time by Proust. One of the most mind-bending and awesome reads ever, if you have the patience and willpower to press through all the volumes.

Nicely done. I really love the description and the atmosphere created around parts 4/5 whilst he's going towards Denver with Montana Slim and the flatbed-truck farmers. Really sounds like the wild and adventurous experience that everyone should go through. By the way, just as a tip and a heads up: Carlo Marx = Allen Ginsberg (the poet I told you about) and Dean Moriarty = Neal Cassady. All of the key characters in the book are real Beatnik figures, it's worth your time to do some background reading and understand who they were individually and what they were about. When you get their characters better you'll find that Kerouac's amazing plain-prose description really sets them alight.

Me and Gooners are on a literature-trip this summer... I'm bringing the books, he's bringing the mescaline. We're going to go out into the Canadian prairies and dance around the electric fires and shimmer in the ultraviolets. Just for something to do, he's always told me he likes to read over Xfire and so I figure "We should read some together and discuss it like true faggots". And so we are. Commence...

Why the hell would I type that formally?

Get off my dick trying to make grammatical corrections, you dumb cunt.

If I gave a shit about whatever pointless course you're doing, I still wouldn't be an unentertaining dickwad and correct you about it all the time. This isn't my dissertation platform.

Teddy if I insisted on picking holes on every post you made about the legal-system, just to try and 'one up' you, it would piss you off as well. I'm an English student but it doesn't mean I spellcheck every single one of my posts or construct them to conform to formal rules and conventions. It's a petty, trivial and frankly fucking tiring thing to constantly do: "heheheh uzique duez english and i can find one example where he uses a comma wrong heheh im smart!" No, you're a fucking pedant and I want to know what you're good at before you climb up the haughty heights of Mt. Supercilious.

That's great man...I'm no legal genius, I accept that and I really couldn't care less.

Seriously though, ever considered the reason why people do this is because of the reputation you've established on these forums? You henpeck at others...they'll do it back. Tit for tat. An eye for an eye.

Just chillllll out or you'll give yourself a heart attack.

Typing formally isn't my thing on these Forums at all, I type in a natural and unthought-out way; this is genuinely how I communicate myself in writing. I don't really regard myself as ever 'henpecking' at others or calling them out grammatically unless it's a clear case of hypocrisy and contradiction... you know, when somebody is being holier-than-thou about English skills generally and then trip over their own incompetency. I generally just don't care enough, and it has nothing to do with "chilling out"- I don't like you, period, and your smarmy remarks are not welcome. No rage involved.

So can we just hug it out and I'll chalk that one up to never correcting Uzi on something English related? And I like you.
