And the Fords and GMs sold in the US are different to those sold in the rest of the world.
Some have gone global or been rebadged to be sold in different countries. The Holden Monaro is a good example, been rebadeged in Europe as the Vauxhall Monaro and the US as Pontiac GTO.
But on the whole, Europe and Australia share a lot of cars between Vauxhall/Opel/Holden and Ford Europe/Australia. But neither do much importing of GM/Buick/Cadillac/Chevrolet/GMC/Pontiac or Ford America/Lincoln/Mercury.
Heres a run down of the Ford cars sold in the US compared to UK and Australia.

Mazda does make the ford ranger and ford escape as the b-series and tribute though so i may be wrong...

The fiesta is not the Mazda 3.
The Mazda 5 is not related to the S-max, but is actually rebadges as the I-max (but fuck if I know where that is sold).
The ford escape is sold as the Mazda tribute, but was discontinued in the UK in ~2003-04, but it is still sold in some Asian countries.
And the B-series/ranger is a little confusing. Depending on what country you are in the B-series can be sold as a ranger or a ranger sold as a B-series, but enough to say the cars are based on the same frame and similar enough to just call them the same (though technically they are not).
