They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

In modern times we have been lucky enough to be without a world war. That is not to say the world has been without conflict, however, for it goes without saying every ANZAC day we give but a moments thought to those brave ANZACs who have fought - and died - in our name. Given the events of the past year, I feel it is fair to give a thought to those who put their lives at risk during the recent Australian bush fires; they who give fight, and they who put their lives on the line when no war of man is present.

Fire fighters go into combat on our behalf every day of every week of every year, without rest, without armistice, without treaty, and without ANY hope of rest. I doubt our fallen would hesitate to share a gunfire breakfast with these hardy few.
Lest we forget.
