I can actually agree with this, as a full ban would be ridiculously useless. I think that stopping guns from the US getting into the hands of Cartels is important, but there is no way that the US is the major supplier of their automatic weapons and more powerful military weapons such as RPGs and hand grenades, which would be a ridiculous accusation, as those are not in any way readily available in US gun stores. It does seem that it would be acceptable for our government to help control the acquisition of handguns and other regularly available small arms to the Drug Cartels and such though.

Finally something somewhat sane from the Obama Administration.

With the rest of his Admin. trying to figure out how to, I wasn't really believing it until now, I am still not entirely sure I believe it will stay that way.

If he tries to resurrect the assualt weapons ban he will waste his politcal capital and won't be able to achieve the bigger promise of universal health care.

Also, if he did it he can kiss his reelection bye bye. Same thing if universal health care doesn't happen in the first 4 years, he won't get reelected.

The ironic thing is that the Dems lost both houses of Congress shortly after the AWB passed.
That's the main motivator for NOT trying again. Politicians LOVE power, and passing an AWB would see many of them voted out of office.

the people I used tio associate myself with would tell me about how they would trade a car full of guns for a car full of drugs at the border. How it was so difficult to aquire any real weapons in mexico. How most guns came from the US

youre internet source cant trump that source. Ive also read books on the topic which helped me come to the same conclusion.

You can yell all you want about how most guns in mexico dont come from the US till youre blue in the face. Doesnt make it true.
