Sigh, this is exactly what I hoped to avoid. But to start off, I'm agnostic, not christian, not athiest, or anything of the sorts. Stating "God is my favorite fictional character" is outwardly calling anyone who believes in a higher being delusional.
So please answer this?
Do you really wish to continue secular/non-secular bigotry that has divided countless cultures? Would you appreciate it if someone said "athiests are in freudian denial of God's presence?" It has the same effect, and hurts folks like yourself, who sat there and were probably forced into a spiritual outlook they didn't believe in, nor chose to enter. And while the secular and freedom of speech perspectives are much more popular now in Western culture, flaming spiritual perspectives is hypocritically disrespectful. And to be frank, Bigwrm, I used to come from your perspective, and I'd express myself volitially, but I kicked my own arse after I realized it only deepened the secular to spiritual gap as a means of releasing angst.
Anyhow, might we at least try to be a bit more respectful on these forums? I'm not asking for anyone to adhere to a specific belief, I just want a respectful environment to discuss the game with only respectful references to theology, atheism, or any other outlook. Think of it this way, remember what happened last month after the publication of the cartoons that depicted Allah and the outcry that followed? It really hurt folks, and caused death and immense damages to foreign relations, so a little empathy and respect is not much to ask. Feel free to disagree, but stay respectful.
And Bigwrm/Hyper, next time please don't flame; I'd rather not get into a flaming war with either of ya, as you probably have good reasons for how ya feel, just made an oops in terms of outlet. That said, I apologize for using morons in my original statement, as I probably rabble roused a bit myself.
