A convicted sex offender due to be released Saturday from prison after serving 11 months warned in letters that if set free, he would reoffend, even against children. In the letters, Michael McGill begged authorities to keep him locked up for life.

"Please throw the book at me ... I'm harmful to others I should be locked up for life," he wrote in block letters that resemble a child's writing. "I will sexual abuse men. Do this for the safe (sic) of others then I be able not to hurt anyone else. Judge I'm begging you to put me away."

In one letter, McGill writes: "The reason why I molest boys. It give me the thrill to be in control of their penises and tell them what to do. ..."

The Iowa Board of Parole had no choice but to approve him for a parole release because he completed the 11 months required on a special 10-year sentence created by the Iowa Legislature, according to executive director Clarence Key Jr. That sentence dictates the supervision he will get after release. Iowa law provides for civil commitment for certain sexually violent predators who have completed their criminal sentences but are considered too dangerous to be out in society.

I actually feel sorry for the guy. Sounds like he knows it is wrong, and is genuinely fearful it will happen again.

You'd think he could be detained on psychiatric grounds.

They need to know how to man up and pass special legislation.

Here in Victoria, Australia there was a criminal a while back (although his name escapes me) who said that he was going to re-offend upon release and commit horrible atrocities (eg blow up the MCG on Grand Final day killing 100,000 people) so the Vic parliament made a law saying that if the DPP can prove that he will be a danger to society on release then they can keep him imprisoned to protect the public.

A similar thing should be brought in in this case.

Voluntary (chemical) castration?

I've come across such a case before, and it was paid for by a child charity.  The peado knew he would offend again and suggested the idea.

Wow the Chemical Castration just made my nut sack hurt.. But on the other end, he's probably just not suited to the outside world..

So by saying that he'll offend again means he wants and needs to stay in jail. On that note if he is released he will probably offend again as quickly as possible to get put back into jail. The Castration wouldn't work for him cause obviously it's a mental thing.

till the definition of 'danger to society' includes 'the chance for commiting domestic terrorism' (which it does)
then, the government defines a 'domestic terrorist' as someone who may support a 3rd party, speak against the government, show the confederate flag, show the need for an overthrow of government.

OH WAIT, The Obama administration recently came out with a study that says just that!!

Hmm. So maybe these possible 'domestic terrorists' need some... 're-education'. Too bad we aren't getting a head start building camps around the U.S.

OH WAIT, We are.
http://www.sianews.com/modules.php?name … p;sid=1062

Hmm, So maybe the government should put someone in jail if they show any of these signs, like supporting a third party. Then, we'll consider them a terrorist until they are re-educated and cleared to live in society. 2 time offenders will be harshly sentenced.

Yah, that will protect people!

How does that apply to any of what he's threatening to do?

The judge should lock you away according to your crime the first time.

I see

Sarcasm doesn't work on the inet.
If someone is conspiring to kill a mass of people then I fully understand why they would want to keep him locked up. Wouldn't you?

Theres a difference between keeping a threatening murderer locked up, or a threatening rapist locked up, compared to having anyone the gov decides locked up for whatever reason.

There's a reason why the rule of law exists. If that type of legislation is introduced judges would enforce it rather than the government. If the government tried to enforce it without any apparent reason they'd have to answer to judges. So no, they wouldn't be able to lock up anyone for whatever reason.

Teddy, how exactly would he be charged with conspiracy because of this letter and his stated warnings?

You need to get the textbook out again and re-revise that part.

Oops wrong one. I was thinking of a Norwegian word which is similar in spelling but different in meaning.

Attempt- that's the one I was thinking of..and on second thoughts he couldn't be charged unless acting more than merely preparatory.

Maybe we should keep true sex offenders (pedos and rapists, not people who piss in their backyards) in sanitariums permanently.
