Meh Lazytown. May as well be called dm_lazytown. I'm glad I got it on a real map.

heh, must have been a pretty awesome medic ^_^Spidery_Yoda wrote:
Me and Peter got this a few days ago . One of the hardest achievements in the game. 20 kills as a Heavy with the same Medic on you the whole time. I got 28 altogether before we died ^_^. Peter already had the equivalent Medic achievement (as do I) so only the Heavy one was awarded. He had the Kritzkrieg and I had Sasha.

It was an awesome round though.
and i'm glad you feel that waySpidery_Yoda wrote:

I think Kevin is still bitter from Pete's (Spidery_Yoda) midnight drunken rage

i'm just amused that achievements matter that much. i see it as a: 1) "i have it" or 2) "i don't have it" sort of thing. does it really matter how you got it? unless you were on an achievement server of course.

Well that is one of the very few that really IS an achievement you know? Most are just grinds or doing something stupid, but this is one of those very memorable times when we did something special, and the game recognised this. We basically singlehandedly stopped the entire enemy team for several minutes, ensuring our team the win.
On Stock maps which are well thought out and designed to stop such things, this is really quite something. On maps like Lazytown where this is common due to poor map design, it's nothing special at all. So I think it's a big difference

Getting achievments is definitely more satisfying on full stock map games. Gives more of a sense of acomplishment. If it doesn't make any difference to you though then it's fine. Games are for fun, whatever suits you really.
I've been proselytizing for the awesomeness of stock/Valve-supported-community-maps for the last infinity... I remember a time when I would get bitched at and called 'elitist' for widely-tarring all custom maps with the same "Pfft, shit: poor design / no learning curve" brush. Nice to see some of you are finally getting my point; it's more satisfying to get a good score/streak/achievement on a map that's designed for teamplay, rather than building sentries in front of spawn-doors or Heavy/Medic camping the cabinets.

Well thank god it's all down to you then.Uzique wrote:

lazytown was cute for a little while. but you're right, most custom maps are shit. yes, lazytown included. the ones that i think deserve to be valve-approved maps have already been so (cp_steel is the first that comes to mind).

tbh, Steel is really the only spectacular custom map. Egypt is alright but lacking in many areas (balance being chief among them). And all the other ones, Junction: too cramped. Fastlane: too bland. Turbine: too fail.haffeysucks wrote:

This thread is still alive? It was alive when I left BF2s...DoctaStrangelove wrote:

but ctf_aerospace_b3 is pretty win, IMO. Nice jumps, nice custom models, and awesome cave sections.
i only played egypt once (pre-valve thumbs up), so i don't really have any say about that. junction? don't even know it. fastlane - alright. a little bland, you're right. turbine sucks too, i agree.DoctaStrangelove wrote:

Steel is awesome. Fastlane is pretty good.

nah, I was on the same server yesterday?! It has something to do with the clan having it´s (third I guess?) anniversary. And everytime you hit someone, ballons would pop up. crazy.Spidery_Yoda wrote:
