So happy to see Button back where he should be.


If that (qualifying) is anything to go on, it's going to be one hell of a good season.
So unbelievably close right through all 3 quali's - I don't think I've ever seen the positions change so much during each session.

And am I correct in thinking that most (if not all) of those that are did really badly, compared to those that aren't?


Also, on the 'diffuser issue' - I'm not sure it appears to be making that much of a difference...

All cars have the same weight (605kg), with or without KERS, but when you don't have KERS, you can place the additional kilograms needed to reach the minimum weight wherever you want. This gives the car better balance etc. (lower heavyweight point, or whatever one calls it).

Oh, yeah, of course - and you've just reminded me that they said as much on the BBC commentary that I watched as well!

The reason Kubica isn't using it could be because he's a big heavy guy.

6 teams in the top 7  so  different from last year, with top 6 out of McLaren, Ferrari and BMW  most of the time.

Toyota duo excluded from qualifying

Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli have been stripped of their grid positions for the Australian Grand Prix for a flexible wing infringement.

Glock had qualified sixth on the grid, with Jarno Trulli two places further behind, for their Toyota team at Albert Park.

However, following post-qualifying technical inspections by the FIA, it was found that the team's rear wing elements were in breach of the rules.

A statement issued by the FIA said: "The Stewards have received a report from the Technical Delegate that the upper rear wing elements of cars No. 9 and 10 are showing extreme flexibility in contravention of Article 3.15 of the 2009 Formula One Technical Regulations.

McLaren are apparantly getting new pieces by the Spanish Grand Prix on 10th May. Thats quite a long time and a lot of potential points lost for Hamilton and McLaren. I predict that after the Spanish Grand Prix McLaren's season will begin.

I'd like to see Barrichello make a charge on the title this year, would be fitting for a man of such experience in Formula 1 to earn something finally for his patience and dedication. He would be my preferred choice should Hamilton not make as much of an impact this year.

Of course I'm still rooting for Lewis but until the MP4-24 gets a major boost they're going to go nowhere. I'm still fucking excited 110%, the idea of 2008's bottom ten fighting it out this weekend is so unpredictable really

Definitely agree on Barrichello, one of my favourite drivers and hes such a good driver too. He had the fastest lap time in qualifying (from the 2nd round). However, it would be brilliant to see Jenson go for it too, simply because hes a British driver

I loved the intro music, Ive really missed that. The good ole guitar - although I really liked Moby's Lift me Up, fitted F1 well.

Btw, what happened to Murray Walker? Or is he only there for race day?

Yeah, Kubica decided not to run KERS as it would increase the weight of his car. Good job too. I honestly did not notice anything different between a non-KERS car and one that is running it, apart from the fact that the none of the KERS cars managed to get into the top 5 (Massa, Raikonnen, Kovalainen, Heidfeld and Hamilton).

What with the new regulations implemented this year, I think it is a bit unfair calling 2008's title contenders the 'top' teams now. Bear in mind that with these new rules each team has had to build from scratch and from bottom-up again. No team was going to have any idea how they would compare with each other until Qualifying this morning (despite seeing each other in winter and pre-season testing) when they would begin using the same amount of fuel as each other.

With most of the cars so similar to each other in terms of competitive-ness, I think it is now down to driver skill - at one point the gap between first and second was 0.002 seconds. Two thousanths of a second. It really is going to be that close this year :]

If was fun to see the drivers struggling more with their cars. A lot relies on talent and instinct now.



As for Virgin getting the sponsorship deal, it sucks, but could be worse. I mean, imagine McDonalds or Coca-Cola on the F1 cars. It's bound to happen, unfortunately
