last time i checked, Irish were European too...

That's what they say, but I think those ginger freaks just want to latch on to another group to be cool.  I saw a nerd do the same thing in highschool, always sat at the table with the jocks even though nobody would talk to him.  Didn't really make him a jock if you know what I mean.

Actually, the first gingers were Scandinavian in origin.  The original Celts had dark hair.

We wouldn't be if he didn't exist.

And as for my earlier statement - I guess I'm lucky enough to have the view of a nice landscape. But to be the perfect distance from the sun; have balance between plant and animal life; even orbit itself. I do believe that creatures have evolved, yet I believe in a creator. Astro and geographically speaking, it is absolutely perfect.

I watched a documentary on the history channel once that claimed that there was some book taken out of the bible that said God eventually lets everyone in heaven cause because he feels bad. I think it was the book of enoch.
I think it was one of the gnostic gospels, are you reffering to the one where, supposedly, man looks down at those in hell, and pleads with God to release them?

Enoch is the guy who went on the tour of heaven and hell.

Both books where rejected anyway at nicea, apparantly there uninspired.

I wouldnt get wraped up in the wording game, the angels are reffered to as the ''sons of God'' aswell.

Spearhead-  If you REALLY BELIEVE in Christ and accept him as your savior, then you don't continue sinning (purposely) and you do good deeds for fellow man naturally because YOU REALLY BELIEVE in Christ.  The problem is that you would have to be insane to TRUELY BELIEVE in Christ and this is why you don't see many " Christians " in Islamic countries preaching the " Truth " with the " Knowledge " that they are doing God's work, saving people's souls, protected by God, and God's work/will is more important than their next breath on earth.

Obviously walking the walk is for real believers, while talking the talk is the popular feel good thing.  Kinda reminds me of liberalism.
Well I'm not sure if you're trying to get in an argument with me or not.  Also could you explain what you mean in more down to earth language please?

My point is that, why does morality have to come from external influences?  Walking the walk, talking the talk... are they not one in the same?  Why must one believe in a higher power (in this case Jesus/god) in order to be a moral and spiritual person?

Theoretically, under the answers given by stingray and nick, the world could turned into a living nightmare while those responsible are saved in the end because they truly accepted the lord as their savior.

Jesus was the only perfect human, and he was and is God at the same time. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus was present at the creation, and he was present the entire rest of the time, but then God sent Him down to earth to live in human form and be a man and die to save us. We are all God's children, but Jesus was both 100% God and 100% Man while He was on earth.

@ Spearhead: The world will eventually become a living nightmare, and those who are believers will be saved, but not necessarily before the end.

I was under the impression Mary was considered perfect too.

Not in the Lutheran Church, which I belong to, and it also teaches closest to what the Bible actually says.

Funny that, given that the Bible was compiled and edited by the Roman Catholic Church.

Indeed, but they got so screwed up in the middle ages/renaissance trying to get money/power, they strayed from the teaching of the Bible because they could since no one could read, and they haven't gotten back to exactly what the Bible says, even today.

I'm not saying that it has to come from external influences, I am just saying that if a person REALLY TRUELY believed in Jesus Christ that they would behave in a TRUELY Christian manner.

I'm not saying that people need to believe some deity is following them around taking notes for them to act in a moral fashion.  I'm saying that 99.999% of Christians are nonbelievers/idiots.

Mmm. I know about Luther's actions against the Catholic Church.

Now, do you believe that any of the meaning in the Bible has been lost in translation?

eh?

To qualify, one has to believe that Christ, died, and rose from the dead, to = a christian.  Where are you getting this shite from?

Not much, as the scribes who wrote down the books were very meticulous, there are some things such as that Goliath was 6 ft tall, not 9 ft tall, but it has changed little, if any, from it's original form. The scribes would throw away entire manuscripts if they screwed up even one word and caught it. The books we have are much the same as copies found among the Dead Sea Scrolls and others like them. Some deeper meanings were lost, as the original Greek of the New Testament has several words for love, while we only have one. In the Greek, the love of God is agape, or unconditional love, we don't have that specific a language.

I know all about agape vs. philial love vs. 'erotic' love (eros) and such.

I have had some fundamentalist Christians as friends.
