Just as in the Subject. I have this video card. It's zalman cooler keeps the card cool (38C in idle), but it is a bit noisy for me. I have huge fan on the side of my chase so i think i could 'remove some rpm's ' without much temperature raise. But how to do it? I cant do it with software given to me with the card. Can speedfan do it? I think this app is very hard to use. Can i change its speed by BIOS, or other way? Help
hard to tell but it seems like that card only has a 2pin power fan so you can't change the speed.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
You can use apps like rivatuner or EVGA precision to adjust the fan speed on Nvidia cards, so I'm assuming that there's something out there for ATI cards too...
There's a boatload of google results, including video walkthroughs, on ways to do it.

IIRC, you can just drop these on (well, with skill).
Should suck up voltage, lowering input to the fan, slowing it down.
Same concept as a speed control.

200kilo-Ohm is a bit too much for that tbhMorpheus wrote:

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Cause I'm sure he wants to rip out the resistor every time he plays games and wants a little more cooling, yeah?Morpheus wrote:

I use this tweak to change my 4850 fan speed.
might still work as the fan is run off of the cards fan header though.CrazeD wrote:

The 512mb x1950xt has one of these on it, x2. Just bought one on ebay for £12.50 huzzaJenspm wrote:

There is even an option in CCC to manually set the fan speed, but of course it doesnt work... wtf is going on , guys...

It is custom design. -> Software fanspeed controlling doesn't work as its made for reference cards.
You need a 2 pin to 3 pin fan adapter and zalman fan mate 2 or similar to adjust the fanspeed manually.

This sucks dudes... we have almost second decade of XXI centure but decreasing fan speed on GPU still requires middle-age techniques... i will contact gigabyte support, but they propably wont tell me a sh1t because it could risk in damadging the card and voiding the warranty... // thx for help anyway
If it really is so hard to get a fan adapter and fan mate, there is nothing else I can do.
