They are required to do so, by the Geneva convention - or they are as bad as the terrorists.

But surely you understand that the civilians are often powerless as to what is done in the community by the militant groups. The militant groups have the weapons and can exert force quite easily on their own people. The same was seen in Northern Ireland, it's not exactly easy to stand up to a shadowy organisation that is armed to the teeth and believes wholeheartedly in its own political philosophy... but does that make it any more justifiable to blow up these civilians? I think not, they are basically being spit-roasted with the IDF on one side and Hamas on the other.

Electing the Hamas, claiming the Palestinians do not support the Hamas, not requesting Iran, Syria, and Israel to stop using their country as a proxy, complaining about civilian deaths while provoking civilian death, complaining about problems with agreements broken, pointing fingers at each other side, provoking a neighbor with a history of over-response because that seems to be the only option at this point.

"The poor Palestinian people"...yeah, so what EXACTLY are they doing to prevent this from happening?  Nothing.  They are only prolonging the conflict.  So I ask...why not?  And you tell me they can't.  It's hopeless.  Well then, I hope we seen at least six Israeli hating posts a day.

So yeah, I'd say it's wonderful to see these threads.  "It's Israel's fault...It's Hamas..."  Choose a side.  It always makes sense.  When in fact neither side makes sense because neither side will bother to step down. 

Electing a hard liners, continuing to force territory rights on areas in dispute, inability to step off of high alert, lack of negotiation skills, lack of sharing or selling, agrian technology or resources, overkill overkill overkill.

Both sides suck.  Recognize that.

What annoys me though is that some people on this forum (not you necessarily) will continually decry the harming and killing of civilians when it is carried out by Palestinians but will not condemn it when it is the IDF that are responsible for it. I can't think of many Palestinian sympathizers on this forum (bar maybe Rammunition!) who have condoned civilian deaths at the hands of Hamas.

A perfect example was lowing going on and on about the use of human shields and how disgusting this was, and then when evidence was presented showing the Israelis using human shields he completely changed his tune and condoned it. It's this kind of unsustainable reactionary opinion that is at the root of so many of the world's problems.

Do we engage in arms trade with Iran? No. Do we engage in arms trade (nay aid!) with Israel? Yes. Ethically and morally wrong. Do western governments criticise Israeli human rights violations in the same manner as they berate those of Russia, China or others? No, of course not. Never very vocally or meaningfully at any rate. Why? Because of holocaust guilt and because deep down we know we helped create this shit through League of Nations resolutions and poorly executed post-WWI European imperalism. Zimbabwe has been made a paraiah for their abuses - why not Israel? The fact we created Hamas through our facilitation of an Israeli state and our blind eye to their imperialism makes us complicit and responsible for righting our wrongs by punishing Israel. Punishing Israel does not legitimise Hamas, they are still terrorist scum. The point is that so are Israel, we are partly to blame and the hypocrisy of it all is mindblowing in the context of western stances on other issues and other nations.

Western aid goes to Palestine as well, which is in bed with the Hamas.  Of course the West isn't going to back off from Israeli aid unless Iran backs off from Hamas aid.   Hypocrisy everywhere.

Basically both sides have got to want peace, which means backing off from their agendas.  I believe with no aid, it'll just take longer - it's a zero sum game until both sides agree to change.

Which brings me to my next point...how was St. Paddy's day?  Do you guys drink green beer over there?

I wonder what the reaction would be if it was arab made t-shirts showing pregnant israeli women getting aimed at.
