But was he expecting to get shot? Did he go in front of them knowing he would have to take a bullet? Chances are no, he wasn't/didn't. He probably thought that if he put himself in the way, nothing would happen, it did, therefore it was a bad decision to do so.JahManRed wrote:

Could have been worse. Could have been British activist Tom Hurndall.
The link shows a photo of Tom after he was shot, if you don't have the stomach for reality, don't click it.

The Israelis convicted the shooter.......an Arab.
"On 11 August 2005, al-Heib was sentenced to eight years in prison by a military court."

It personally doesn't bother me because I don't care about a American protester that is so sympathetic to Palestine, they decide to protest in a quasi war zone.

What do you do when somebody is fucking you day in day out? When they take your land. Your home. When they kill your relatives. When they don't allow you to go to work. When they beat you up for no reason. What the fuck would you do.
First off, this is not retaliation. This is an offensive. Let's not forget that. Second, there is a thing called police brutality. Which of course is not the case here, because we're talking about the IDF I take it. But regardless of that, what will it take for you people to say no more. I really wonder.Flecco wrote:

Like I said earlier, some people are full of shit.
Protest an illegal apartheid wall, get shot in the face with tear gas. Fellow countrymen have no sympathy because you like to sit in trees instead of something they deem more worthwhile.
Anyone notice the tear gas canister that landed right next to the people that were helping the dude out on a stretcher? That sure was a tactical shot...

As for in my own country, I don't need to protest and I wouldn't anyway. Protesting against one thing always leads to disruption of everyone elses lives, so again, I wouldn't waste my weekend causing disruption to get gassed and water cannoned or bean bagged.

@oug Why not protest injustice in another country? Because it is none of your god damn business. Going to other lands to impose your views for how they should live isn't the right thing to do, it's the big headed thing to do.

Not the second or third or the blocked ambulance or anything like that (oddly enough the ambulance looked Israeli). People are making such a big deal out of a shot that in all likelihood accidentally hit a guy in the face. It's terrible, yes. It's condemnable, yes. No more so than a careless driver hitting somebody crossing the road though. If you want to talk about the IDF being heavy handed maybe we should look at real examples, like the border 'fence' itself or the Hurndall one already posted. Protesting? Sure, fine. If there were protesters in the group throwing rocks though it becomes another matter. That's not a peaceful protest, that's assault and you take your safety into your own hands by staying in or near a violent protest. I'd support negligence charges being brought against the guy who shot him but I disagree that this is another example of Israeli brutality.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Justice is defined by the law, which is defined by the government. So only the government has the right to decide what is justice and what isn't.
What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee: Have at thee, coward! /Shakespeare
Now sometimes you must have double standards for things. What works for one group of people wouldn't work for another. Now in the middle east we've learned that only a strong iron fist can hold those people down. Maybe that is what they need a strong iron fist.
I really don't care about that one guy. It just bugs me that there's all these people sitting in their comfy homes being sarcastic about this as if such a thing is so far from their reality.Flecco wrote:

Although tbh I think it's different than a careless driver situation... And as far as the stone throwing is concerned, I'm sure the Israelis would find some other pretext to gas these people anyway. You're right though, in comparison with other events in the region between Israelis and Palestinians this is quite trivial. Sadly though, no matter what's going on the reaction is the same...
