Why the fuck are these questions being asked on a satirical news show.

the daily show transcends satire fairly frequently.  much of the world is absurd, so when the show reports on the absurd, it's not really satire anymore.

I didn't ask why they weren't being asked on serious shows, I asked why they are being asked on satirical shows.

The serious shows are doing such a shitty job of covering the bases that people are thrilled when Jon Stewart is asking the questions. It should have been a joke that he was trying to ask these questions in such a deadly serious tone.

absurd != corrupt

Asking petty questions about blatant paradoxes and pointing out the inane bullshit spewed by our wonderful politicians is one thing, a comedian throwing around accusations and getting applause for it is another.

Do not agree. It spelt out one of the biggest problems we had/have in the market. I think we all either knew or suspected it. But point blank confirmation is almost therapeutic.

Well, all these networks are owned my major conglomerates nowadays, maybe you can only get away with asking the really serious questions on a comedy show that "nobody takes seriously."

People wanted it... I could give a fuck shit if it was played on nickelodeon.

btw.. it was good to hear Stewart say, "at least we say we are snake oil salesmen". Just sitting in the back of the class and throwing spitballs.

Stewart did a bit of grandstanding... I am not a fan of Kramer but he did sound pretty sincere that he missed some signs of the market crashing...
Only 6 people watch CNBC so it was good exposure for him...lol     it was good for both their ratings...

And a zillion web hits, pretty smart move airing this 'tiff'.

As mentioned, people want this right now, let's air the dirty laundry

I thought it was appropriate enough, the satire show host grilling the so-called-financial-advice show host : )

Hmm.

In any case, Stewart can say whatever the fuck he damn pleases and that's why he's asking the questions, his paycheck is not dependent on his political viewpoint. And they're the right questions.

Bingo...  This is what it comes down to.

Flaming, I understand how confusing it might be to see Stewart asking the tough questions rather than actual journalists, but to me...  all that matters is that SOMEONE asks the right questions...

I understand that the power of the court jester is only given by those who take the court jester seriously.

It's not confusing, it's disappointing.

This view that it doesn't matter where the questions are asked, even if on Nickelodeon so long as they are asked, is ridiculous. If nothing about the NYT changed except that it was now printed in crayon, it can't and shouldn't be taken seriously. The source is

So give us the alternative amidst a corporate news media.  We both know they won't do what's necessary, so Stewart will occasionally make a foray into the serious side of things.  I don't see that as a problem.

That is the problem.

Hinder the opposition working towards journalists who give interviews that mean something by throwing the dog of public opinion a worthless bone.
