FM radio bands range from 88 MHZ through
108 MHz.
The speed of light is 3 × 108 m/s.
What is the wavelength for the FM radio
band at 98 MHz? Answer in units of m.

I used the formula wavelength = velocity/frequency and came up with 3061224.4897, but it says my answer is wrong. What am I doing wrong?

Don't you mean the speed of sound? not light

Unit analysis ftw.

What are the units for velocity? Frequency? How do you manipulate those to get to distance?

radio waves = light

the speed of light is 3x108 by the way, not 3x108. I don't know if that was laziness on your part for bbcode or if you're using a value that is radically off.

I'm so confused, I haven't had anything lower than an A in this class until now.

@Flaming: Yea, It didn't copy right from the website. My bad.

Well I come up with 3x10^14. That's wrong though, so I don't know anymore.

Idk. We've only just begun this in Astronomy and I haven't taken another physics class in four years. Sorry.

Do you know the answer? If so, please tell, I could solve it backwards.

So sayeth the TI-83. So sayeth we all.

(m/s)/(1/s) = ms/s = m

That's right. My TI-83 died on me, so I'm stuck with this stupid computer calculator. Where did you get the 98e6 from?

Always have to use SI units. You needed to convert MHz -> Hz before doing anything.

You'll get fucked up next year in Physics in you can't use correct units.

Yea, well I have a dumb teacher that doesn't teach shit. I got a 95% on my homework by the way. Thanks.
