Are there Source mods similar to the battlefield gameplay? You know, with vehicles and such.

A friend of mine and me are really missing the battlefield gameplay experience. No, not the crashing, bunnyhopping, abusing, flaming and baseraping one, but the nice feel of vehicle combat. L4D is boring by now and I already tried replaying Bf2 and 2142. And got annoyed within the minute.

So, any of you any suggestions?

Okay, judging by the steampage it looks like a mixture between PR and CS. Any hints on the learning curve? Steap?

Learning curve in Insurgency is exponential in my opinion...

Will take you an hour or two to get decent at it no worries and enjoy yourself. You'll be killing people and capping points quite well pretty easily. There's this bastard who plays on the Aussie server though who regularly dominates the whole server because he's been playing for so long. Very, very bloody good at the game.

It is a cross between CS, PR and Karkand really. Very polished and a lot of fun if you join a server with a regular community. Automatic weapons dominate on most maps though.

MP games are only as easy as the other players. Maybe it's userbase doesn't offer much challenge, but the actual game cannot be easy.

I played it for like four hours straight. Tried many different servers, partly due to the fact that the game would crash while "sending client data" half the time. Playerbase is medium i´d say. I played with some pretty pro clanies, using voice and good teamwork and a small playercount up to 40man servers with the usual "gtfon00b" "pros".

I never said, it´s not easy, I got the first kills pretty fast. It just sucks. The teamwork might be nice, but the gameplay is not. Slow, and the map is full of campers that shoot you down several times until you get their position.

Was trying Empires yesterday, but could only find 2 servers with ppl playing, one of them with a 300+ ping. Will try again today.

~edit~ Am I missing something? Empires wouldn´t connect on a single server. Either it´s something missing or the server uses "something" different. crap. ~edit~

Red Orchestra is a fucking epic WW2 game, still the best one out there IMO. CoD 5 comes behind it. And yeah, I remember playing Insurgency and thinking "wow it's RO but set in Modern Times, nice"

I got it to work. I just had to try connecting to different servers for several times. After half an hour or so, it just worked. Weird.

Anyways, looks like a really well done mod, only problem is there´s like 1 server with a ping less than 200 who's populated only at the evening. But oh well, fun nonetheless.

The first few guys I met online were real dorks though. "Yeah, I been playing Empires for 2 1/2 years now!" "This server got this special and that special!" w/e

I like the weapon design, just had to walk an awful lot during the first few rounds due to lack of vehicles. But a well done mod!
