I'm not a computer illiterate person but this is confusing me... I have been overclocking my system lately. I went to overclock just a little bit more... 0.06 GHz. Anyway thats like turning a 5 second lag into a 4.999 second lag... I did this restarted my system and all of a sudden I get an error message saying windows could not start because some files were missing \WINDOWS\system32. So I sat and stared at that for about 5 min thinking of how it could of happened because I had no viruses.. no malware and I've restarted it about 6 times before that. So I restarted it again and bam error message again. I turned it off let it sit like 30 seconds turn it on and it loads up fine. Acted like nothing was missing or anything. I can't explain how it couldn't find files then it could. I'm glad its back but i'm scared to turn it off and have it stay like that forever... i'm going to go out and buy a usb to put all my stuff on but if this has any relation to me overclocking my computer than I'll be very sad. Is there any other reason why it would have lost files then found them again..
Freak occurence, tbh.
Back up and reformat, just in case.

Bad HDD's?
One of mine freaks out sometimes, and my PC forgets it exists, only to refind it a minute or two later

I wouldn't worry about that unless you start getting it again.

yes there is. Subtlety doesn't work

But obv not to excuse people who should know better
My computer specs would have nothing to do with this problem.. But if you really want them...
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB RAM
Raptor SY-PS400 Adjustable power supply.
Freezer 7 pro cooling system.
Radeon HD 3870 graphics card.
one 500GB SATA hard drive.
and a GIGABYTE EP45-DS3L motherboard.

There is a reason. There are some chipsets that are notorious for corrupting data when overclocking. Also some mobos don't support locking the frequency of the PCI/PCIe/sata/whatever bus.
That isn't the case here.

Yeah... I'm leaning towards my PSU as the problem. Its 5 years old and only has a 20 pin connector so its out of date and is missing 4 pins...

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Max is right. My A8N-SLI Deluxe corrupted over 500GB files. Twice.
edit: shouldn't be the case with that mobo....
edit2: PSU could be getting funky.... as long as it works no probs.... if u start getting problems again, start monitoring the voltages

It doesn't matter by how much you are overclocking.pinkie_slapepd wrote:
