I was on a server playing on Wake Island, and saw more than one RIB speeding across the bay. It was doing like 100 mph. Has anyone else seen this?
baywatch mod?
If you take a boat and ram it against the side of the carrier, the front end will lift up off the water. While it's raised, turn away from the carrier and manually adjust the throttle to keep the front out of the water. If you continue at full throttle, the boat will flip over and explode. If you go too slowly, the front will simply lower back to the water.
The end result looks like this: http://graphicintegrity.net/temp/bf2/screen002.jpg
The trick is to keep the front end up while driving the boat. If you can do this, it will drive much faster than the normal top speed.

I don't lag, only connection problems, usually when I'm flying, LOL! My ping average between 9 and 40.Cbass wrote:
never seen it. lag maybe?
I haven't heard of it, but I saw it on Mine2, lol.xaven wrote:

I was gunner in a Z-10 and we were going full speed and we finally caught up with him when he reached the wrecked ship next to PLA Arty. We started tracking him right at the South Base. The wake from the RIB was so long from his speed and the nose of the boat was way up in the air, from the speed he was going. It has to be a cheat or hax.
ROFL you got that right, it would be in slo-mo!Cbass wrote:
If it was baywatch they would be in slow-mo and there would be fake tits everywhere.
EDIT: thats a funny pic soup nazi. did u report that guy for padding repair points? thats what he's doing right?

No. He was just speeding right along. The boat doesn't take any damage like that unless if it flips over (at least in my experience).Cbass wrote:

Also on wake if you hit the tail of the zero infront of arty island it will raise the front just like hitting the boat.
Its not a cheat or hack and it doesnt really give you an advantage other than outrunning another boat maybe.

Youwere either in a jet or chopper when you saw this right?
baywatch mod lol
I only see this in a chopper or jet. That's why I asked. I have never seen it on foot. Leads me to believe it's a graphical error from an aerial viewpoint.
Yeah, I was a gunner in the PLA Z-10 chopper; I don't know the exact speed, but we were hauling ass to catch him, my TV missile finally got him before he beached at the PLA arty.M1-Lightning wrote:

No, I'm sure it wasn't a graphical error or bug, the nose of the RIB was way up in the air, and the wake that was trailing the boat was twice the length of a normal RIB traveling through the water. It was definitely moving at a high rate of speed.M1-Lightning wrote:

I see this all the time but it's no glitch. I'm saying it's a graphical error because I've discussed this with players in game when I've been in the RIB and someone has seen the huge wake behind me. The RIB isn't moving faster than normal, it just appears that way to aerial vehicles.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

M1-Lightning, I'll agree to disagree with you. I saw what I saw, other boats traveled in the same slow manner, and I saw two boats moving at this high rate of speed. I also remember someone saying something about it on the screen a few minutes before I witnessed it, I just disregarded it. I will get some screenies next time I see it.
Ok but I'm telling you from experience here that this is caused by your video settings... I guaranteed it's an illusion from long distance that goes away when you get close to it. A screenshot will only show the same illusion that you see.
Check out these other illusions from changing your video settings....
No terrain....
Shadow of a sniper on the building yet no building shadow...
No hands...

M1 Lightning, that's a completely different situation.
Completely different how? You guys are way behind on this. Old news.
You really think it's a graphical glitch? Think again: http://graphicintegrity.net/blog/2006/0 … 2/#more-10

Lt. Col M1, no totally different issue here, what your describing is old news.
I watched the video, and that's not exactly what I witnesses last night either. Yes the bow of the RIB was up about 45 degrees, but it was just haulin ass.... I'll report back here when I see it again.
Thanks Soup Nazi for the intel.

I'll have to watch the video later and see if it's the same as what I've seen.
I'm thinking that if I hadn't raised the bow of the boat at such a high angle that it would've driven much faster than it did. I'll have to do some more recon.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

Glad you watched and enjoyed the video.
Enemy Hydrofoil Spotted.
I think it should be allowed, even if it is a glitch. Just to stop the whiner's about how hard they have it getting onto Wake. I have never had a problem, but I don't take a rubber dingy to a tank fight either!
I still want my hovercraft promised in the BF2 video from last year! What is the point of so much water in maps, when you don't have any real water vehicles (APC and the Zodiac. Don't get me started on the Jetski).
Hovercrafts, hydrofoils, and AA speedboats. That's what they needed to add!
Way off topic, sorry.

SunTzu, were you playing on MoonGamers 24/7 Gulf of Oman a couple nights ago?
