Regarding the Sandman and double jumping. Why on earth would Valve make it the other way? What kind of drawback is that if you can just switch weapons to jump.

As for todays update. Sounds to me that the recoil of the new shotgun throws the Scout backwards . And upwards if you shoot down.

Maybe you can't double jump at all as long as you have the Sandman (Even with another weapon equipped), but then you can still get to double jump heights by jumping once, turning and shooting with the Scattergun unlock to knock yourself up higher.Spidery_Yoda wrote:

1) The sandman would be pretty hard to hit using the baseball, as the baseball would need to travel some distance and hence would miss alot of the time. Some people are saying that it would travel similarly to the Pyro's flare gun, but the difference between the flare gun and the sandman is the fact that the flare gun has no start up time. The Sandman would have a small lag peroid before hitting the ball which would animate him hitting the ball. This would further decrease its accuracy, unless he could aim during the animation. The above is significant because the weapon would not be as balanced as the normal bat, it would be weaker and less useful since you dispose of your double jump.
2) Look at the pictures of the baseball and the bat. The baseball does not look like a 3D model which could be implemented in the game. It seems like they've grabbed the first google result forbaseball (clicky) and made some adjustments to this picture, namely removing the top and bottom logo's and rotating it about. The bat just looks like the older bat with a colour and logo overlay. The same goes for the stars around the soldiers head. The stars also do not fit the style of TF2's gameplay. The above is significant because the page could be made really quickly using photoshop, and hence would not take up alot of VALVe's time if it were a prank.
3) The can is even more weird. Alot of people can't handle the scouts speed already due to lag and fps breaks. Increasing his speed would make better computers lag and the same goes for the blur effect they've included. Again, the model doesn't seem 3D for the can. VALVe do not show a picture of the scout holding the can or interacting with it in any way. This means that it can be made in photoshop in a matter of 5 minutes or less using normal shapes and texts. Even if the model were 3D, it wouldn't take very long to make since it's such a basic design. The can also says 'Now with Isotope'. An isotope is not a material, it is a form of an atom and hence the sentence is invalid. The 'MISS!' wording that would pop up when dodging bullets just doesn't work, and is also too large in comparison to the scouts body. This would disrupt gameplay and would block players views when showing up on screen. Notice how large the words 'Critical' are when landing a critical hit, it isn't very large and hardly disrupts the game.
4) Regardless of how awesome a double payload map would seem (in the background), valve would not be so careless as to put a picture of it in the background and destroy further surprises tomorrow/next week. While they have done this in the past, I don't think they would hint at two things in one update, the second being the gun that the scout that is running is holding. The double payload map could be true, although Blu's spawn seems to be in a really bad place for a game type like this.
5) The released weapons are pretty much copy/paste from user suggestions on the steam forums. This update has taken 6 months and VALVe has not come up with their own original idea? I'd understand if there was 1 weapon which was community suggested, but 2 is just too much for the time frame they have used.
6) People have stated on the forums that the community maps chosen to be added aren't very good or balanced.

8) The pictures and format of the scout update page seems to be being made in a hurry and are of very low quality, in comparison with previous update pictures. Normally VALVe care alot about the presentation of their updates and games. The URL format of the scout update is also different than the previous updates, and the team fortress website is being used rather than steamgames, but this is probably because VALVe have moved to the teamfortress website as they did with their "meet the" videos:

10) This one is more of a joke. Using the name 'The Sandman' for the new bat could have a double meaning.
One meaning could be that the baseball hits their heads making them sleepy. The second meaning is it could also mean the whole update is a dream, a lie.
So if the update is a lie, what are VALVe planning?
There are three (recognised) possibilities here:
1) This could be the spy update, with the spy using the scout as a disguise.
2) VALVe are seeing the communities reaction for some reason, and may still be shipping the scout update but with different weapons.

I myself do not mind whether the update is true or false, I am merely informing the possibility of it being fake and supporting the arguement for entertainment purposes. You can make the decision whether to believe or to reject the ideas above. We will find out next week, anyway.

Now for my opinion. Those guys certainly make me wonder. The dogtags especially. What's going on there? Why are all the images on the site of such low quality. Just look at the Heavy Update page in comparison! Why are all the unlocks what every tom dick and harry posted a million times on the forums?
