to be fair... hes kinda right. Games do seem to be getting more and more about just graphics and physics than really solid gameplay, not to say there aren't great games any more, but tbh do i need to say anything more than GTA3:SA -> GTAIV. Seriously how does a series get worse?
Peggle
GTA2
GTA2
I'm not disagreeing with it, I just liked the near exact replication of Miggle's rhetoric.Vilham wrote:

GTA IV wasn't bad. Overhyped? Sure, but all GTA games post-III were. Not as good as San Andreas/VC/III? Definitely. But it wasn't bad. Certainly one of the best games to come out in 2008, though that doesn't really say that much as there were only like, 4 that I really liked.
Yeah, I'm in a similar boat here.
I run LAN games in my school's computer lag once a week, and we're looking for a good game we could pleh on the PCs.
The game need to be kind of older, an FPS, have good multiplayer and not be:
Made by Valve (as the GoldSrc games don't work)
Call of Duty (Played it to death)
Battlefield 1942 (see above)
Thanks in advance.

Sounds stupid, but just go for Quake or UT

WarCraft III should run fine. Great fun in my opinion. Strong community, including a few modding and mapping groups, but still good fun when playing LAN or online without those custom diversions.
Age of Mythology is a solid choice for an RTS with Greek, Norse and Egyptian gods complete with mythical units and faction-specific soldier men. If you get the Titans expansion, you can brawl with the Atlanteans and all of the civilizations get the chance to unearth a powerful Titan to complement an army.

FEAR is too new. Wolfenstein is a WW2 game and we've been playing those for months.JoshP wrote:

Nice thread, makes me remember that my shitty PC can still do some fun stuff. I mean it's all good having a PS3, but still.
I play all this stuff on my laptop, a lot of people think you have to keep your PC up to date to be a PC gamer, but all the best games can be played on an incredibly low end computer.Mekstizzle wrote:

Fucking CivIII is addicting as shit.

Unreal Tournament.
Unreal tourney is an awesome game for a lan, used to run it in our PC class until we switched to CS 1.6.
That said, the orginal UT and UT2k3/2k4 will easily run on lowend systems. We ran UT2k4 on a Amd 3200+ and onboard graphics ,all low ,quite handily, and the Onslaught mode is pretty awesome if you got enough people.
Beyond the games already listed, there isn't much left
Quake 3.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

- LEGO Indiana Jones
- LEGO Star Wars series
- Sam & Max (Seasons 1&2)
- Audiosurf

- Total Annihilation (plus both expansions)
- Supreme Commander

- Older Source-based games like HL2, CSS,...(New ones like TF2 and L4D use a newer engine version.)
I'm in the process of......"buying".....Star Wars Knights of the old republic (1) - Any good? All the reviews etc say it is

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Team Fortress 2 run fairly well on my old system
