The passport defines exatly what nationality you are.  Unless you are in possession of a little blue Book that stated Martin Diego Armando Maradona is a citizen of the United States of America you are not a American citizen.

If a guy moves from, idk, Saudi Arabia to the UK at the age of 3 and lives there the rest of his life and serves in the British military and totally assimilates into British culture but never gets British citizenship, would you still consider him Saudi or would you consider him pretty much British?
