I think European philosophy and culture has moved along quite a lot further than that... don't forget, America just creamed off and cloned the idea and thought that we had arrived at after nearly 1000 years of civilisation and arts/culture/religion. Can hardly pat yourselves on the back for taking the idea of democracy and starting it on a blank canvas, can you? French Revolution did most of that work for you. Also, what the fuck we've made less progress than Beowulf? Well I suppose we didn't kill a bunch of monsters, but what else did he do? Incomprehensible stupidity.

@ FatherTed and Uzique : I never said that the Americans speak more proper than Brits. I merely said that the Brits didn't. The UK level of English is below that of many European countries whose first language isn't even English. Uzique, you go to Oxford. I am pretty sure most people there speak "proper" English.

I think the whole "proper speak" bullshit is wrong. It's just stupid.

I'm talking about in thought... not politics. Descartes, Montaigne, Voltaire, Montesquieu and the like... thinkers that forwarded cultural and philosophical thought in Europe that was then later built upon afterwards to get us closer to where we are today. So does that make a quadruple-fail on the part of Spearhead? The political Enlightenment-principles of the French Revolution were contemporary with the United States being founded though, no? So even that ambiguous mistake isn't really incorrect...

Well I am not going to try an argue about Enlightenment Philosophy's impact on the American Rev, but you didnt say anything about that you said the fooking French Revolution :p

Most of our European named towns are from the Romans. You barbarians kept the Roman names, then we took them. So it doesn't look too great for you either.

I had no Idea the Romans were not considered European, thank you for giving this wonderful insight

But tbh, when people talk of Europe as a unified continent, it's stupid. The continent has been at each others balls up until the EU was created, and the EU was just created so that the mainland assholes could finally control all of Europe like they have wanted to (Roman Empire, Napoleon, Hitler etc..) throughout history
