Just because I think his speech at Ground Zero was a great one doesn't mean that's what I'm judging him on. I think Reagan's speech at the Berlin Wall was also great but I don't think he was that great of a President.
Saying he did a good job post-9/11 had nothing to do with the speech. I'd expect you to look over that, though - you're pretty keen on picking and choosing what you want to hear.

The quality of speech is utterly irrelevant. The fact that you remember it after all this time and use it to make a concession means that either a) you're just being two-faced or b) you judge presidents by their speech making skills on some level. Otherwise the comment would not have been made.Poseidon wrote:

It was simply a statement which I added on, yet you somehow think it's what I base his Presidency on. Haha!Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Considering poseidon is from long island, the speech was probably something that has stuck with him, among other things around Sept 11.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Did you consider that?
He is a socialist, plain and simple. He had to be made literally, God like, in order to sell him to the American public and they bit. He will go down in history as the worst president in American history, knocking Carter to second place and have Roosevelt and Clinton tied for 3rd.Yellowman03 wrote:

One could certainly make a case for that. What with the juxtaposition of the statements and all. I mean, personally I read left to right and top to bottom, but I suppose if you spastically jumped between sentences at every period those statements wouldn't be related. To each his own I suppose.

lol, I considered he was on the front row. Why anyone would pay mind to what a politician is saying however I will never understand. You know with absolute certainty that it's manufactured.TheAussieReaper wrote:

The simple fact is that I don't relate Bush's presidency with his speeches. I mean, it's pretty hard to do that as he never really had any notable ones anyways besides the 9/11 ones. I don't think Bush was the worst president ever, unlike most of the country...I think he did an excellent job in handling Afghanistan and removing the Taliban from power. But Invading Iraq and losing sight of Afghanistan where the real problem was (and still is!) was what turned me away.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

If Obama does something similar, I'll be on his case just as much as I was with Bush.
You don't have to believe that, but frankly, I really just don't care.

Roosevelt failed with all of his new deal bullshit. It was a war, production, that saw America through the Great Depression. NOT the New Deal.Poseidon wrote:

People seem to forget that we went back into a recession after all of Rooservelts fake jobs ended up taking us nowhere. And yes, then the war pulled us out.lowing wrote:

...isn't that what NORMALLY happens after a war? Just asking, seriously.Kmarion wrote:

I don't think anyone really disagreed that it was war production which helped us out the most (I didn't, atleast) but calling him the 3rd worst President of all time is simply laughable.
Yup and govt control that was inacted under the New Deal are still fucking us today, Social Security is a big one. Obama and his form of New Deal will be fucking us and our grandkids years from now.Kmarion wrote:

in 3 weeks, he has appointed tax cheats to his cabinet, one of them as treasury secretary.Dilbert_X wrote:

He has appointed lobbyists to his cabinet, EXACTLY the opposite as to what he promised he would never do.
He has closed down Gitmo without a plan as to what to do with the terrorists there. A small detail I guess.
He has all but gotten approval for a spending bill that does dick but elevate our govt. to socialism.
His historic first TV interview as president went to the Arabs.
He has done quite enough in 3 weeks
