The vote was in essence a vote against Bush, it was not a vote for socialism or communism. NObama's agenda.

You really think everyone just voted for Obama as a vote against Bush? That was just a perk. Nearly everything about Obama and his plan was superior to Grandpa and Super MILF. Goddamn, you truly are naive.

And if you're sooooooo against Bailouts, once again, WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN? I'll tell you why. You're ignorant, you're blinded by hatred, and you're a fucking hypocrite. Admit it, lowing. You're a hypocrite. You voted for a socialist under your own definition.

Yes, Obama's plan was superior and still remains so to this day. Not to mention McCain himself even admitted he didn't know much about the economy. That's who you wanted running the country?

I know you bitter republicans want to see the economy fail (which is so incredibly pathetic) and see the country fail under Obama, but spending is exactly what we need. I didn't see you bitching when Bush didn't veto any (or didn't veto most) of the spending bills given to him, not to mention the Wall Street bailout.

Just another republicrap with blinders on.

Most definitely do not want to see the economy fail, but more spending will not work.  True conservatives didn't support the first bailout either.  That's the biggest thing about GWB that was not conservative.  He increased domestic spending in many areas and pushed the first bailout.  Now the Dems want to do MORE spending, saying Bush's plan didn't work, when they're doing the same thing?  Come on now.

Bush's spending =/= Obama's spending.

Not by a longshot.

All I'm saying is don't criticize Obama with the excuse of his "spending" as your reason when you didn't criticize Bush for it at all.

Obama doesn't have a plan and that is more and more obvious by the day... Most  people voted for him because they hated Bush... that's a fact...
So Bush spent too much... ok...
so BO spending even more is ok for things that won't stimulate the economy is ok?

If anyone is naive it is you who think NOBama was elected on the issues. He was elected for a few reason and not one of them was the issues. He was made a rock star, a celebrity. He was made the Messiah who was going to solve all of the worlds problems and pay all of our mortgages. He was going to be the creater of world peace and the one who was going to end world hunger. People were crying at the sight of him. None of this was steeped in the reality of the issues or him.

His race was another reason he was elected. If he were the black repulican candidate, he would have been elected over the old white guy democrat.

The issues, were the last reason (if at all), he was elected. Hate to break it to you.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before somewhere etc (haven't been in here for a while) but I'd like your opinion on this "buy American" plan.

In case you haven't heard about it - and from what I remember from the BBC - this is a plan according to which the country will stop importing steel and other such commodities necessary for all its major construction sites and will resolve to only buying American steel and other products in order to stimulate the local economy.

So I was wondering what a guy like you who's all about free trade and no government manipulation of the market thinks about this. Because if nothing else, this sure is a major turnaround for the world's leader of globalization and free markets.

first, the CDP or whatever they are called say we are better off doing nothing then passing this spending bill.

and a frisby course aint going to help anything.

now, i bunch of people where i work at lost their jobs today.  this bail out / spending thing wont help them or anyone.  it is a fucking disgrace and it is the master plan by obama and the dems.

you have to see that i hope?  there is NO WAY you can defend this bill?

Certainly not all of it, but a part of it, yes...going towards schools, infrastructure and alternative energy? You bet your ass I'll defend money going towards that.

The rest I remain skeptical on. I'm an independent. I'm not going to blindly praise everything Obama does like most conservatives did with Bush. If he fucks up, I'm going to criticize him. I'm not happy Pelosi's pet projects are getting money but I'm happy that he's reached out to Senate Republicans and slashed needless spending off it, which has now apparentely been agreed on at $780 billion.

Not a huge bailout fan myself but what is the alternative ... how do you stimulate the economy in a recession like this without a bailout and if you chose the no bailout option how do you reckon that will work on the market ...

This narrows down to chose between two evils as I see it ...

those CDP people (or whatever they are called) are pretty much as close to experts as it comes on this matter.  and they say the bill will do more harm then good.  thats the alternative to me.  less harm.

There are economic experts both for and against a bailout, some agree it will do more harm and others that there really is no other choice than going for the bailout because no bailout equals years of recession and many more millions unemployed ...

This is not a small stagnation in the market like we had in the early 90s and around 2000-02

I am against the buy American plan. Competeion is what is needed t okeep quality up and prices down. THat buy American bullshit is exactly what drove the American car companies into the ground. They relied so much on the buy American motto that they felt comfortable cutting quality and taking short cuts thus building a shit car that they thought was gunna sell for no other reason because we are supposed to buy American.

I will buy exactly the product that is the best quality for the money. Competiton is the key.

McCain is not a socialist he did vote for the bailout, however and I disagree with any bailouts. Now, do you really wanna compare the 2 men and their records to see who is a fucking liberal/socialist and who is bi-partisan at the very least.
