So wait, because Obama voted for the bailout and said we need to "spread the wealth" to some faux plumber, he's a socialist, but when McCain votes for the bailout he's an American hero and a wonderful republican? Rofl!

I am not loosing any sleep about NObama in the White House. His approval rating is alreay dropping. and I will bet, it will not be long before people start talking of impeachment. Again, people voted against Bush, NOT for socialism, now that the honeymoon is ending, (rapidly) and his supporters are not getting their mortgages paid off they are waking up from their dream

Certainly not all of it, but a part of it, yes...going towards schools, infrastructure and alternative energy? You bet your ass I'll defend money going towards that.

The rest I remain skeptical on. I'm an independent. I'm not going to blindly praise everything Obama does like most conservatives did with Bush. If he fucks up, I'm going to criticize him. I'm not happy Pelosi's pet projects are getting money but I'm happy that he's reached out to Senate Republicans and slashed needless spending off it, which has now apparentely been agreed on at $780 billion.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before somewhere etc (haven't been in here for a while) but I'd like your opinion on this "buy American" plan.

In case you haven't heard about it - and from what I remember from the BBC - this is a plan according to which the country will stop importing steel and other such commodities necessary for all its major construction sites and will resolve to only buying American steel and other products in order to stimulate the local economy.

So I was wondering what a guy like you who's all about free trade and no government manipulation of the market thinks about this. Because if nothing else, this sure is a major turnaround for the world's leader of globalization and free markets.
