Bill Gates Just Unleashed a Swarm Of Live Mosquitoes On A Room Full of Geniuses

In what is probably the coolest conference-talk attention grab I've ever heard of, Bill Gates apparently just released a swarm of mosquitoes into the crowd at TED, the geniuses-only mind meld. Holy shit.

"Not only poor people should experience this," the Tweetosphere has Gates saying as he released the swarm into the audience. Malaria is a cause that Bill and Melinda have been hitting hard with their philanthropy, and this is certainly a way to drive that point home.

No word yet on the size of said swarm, or confirmation that they weren't actually infected with malaria for that matter, but as far as stunts go, this is prit-tay fucking awesome. We would know.

I don't think they locked them in . I'll wait for more details before passing judgment... it could have just been a ploy (not really releasing them). It certainly would be an attention grabber though.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Basically if those mosquitoes have malaria Bill Gates would be fucked, im pretty sure purposely infecting people with a virus/bacterium is illegal. Therefore im pretty sure he either lied, suggestive manipulation to make people think they are getting bitten, or the mosquitoes were screened for malaria.

He probably got the mosquitoes from a breeder in research facility. They would be completely healthy then.
And seeing as he is donating to and involved in the cure of malaria, I think he has the contacts to get a jar of mosquitoes.

Besides, think a bit more logically:
Releasing infected, bloodsucking, flying insects from a jar in a closed room would most likely get him bitten too.
I doubt that potentially infecting a bunch of geeks with malaria is worth the risk of contracting it himself.
